DNA Benefits - 25% off Virgin Trains
« on November 22, 2017, 01:32:16 pm by KieronDRFC »
Has anybody tried to use this discount?

Im trying to redeem the 25% discount on the DNA website but following the links recommended on website I’m just getting through to the normal booking website and can’t redeem any discounts.  :headbang:

From bitter experience I can tell thee that it really doesn’t work, no matter how hard you try.

I've used it a few times, works fine for me. The full discount only seems to be on selected trains though so only really helps if you're not that fussy about what time you go.

How have you done it? I wanted to go in the morning and come back that same night but can’t see anywhere where that offer is valid?

I have this page from DROS bookmarked then I just click the link for season tickets and follow that through, doing what it says.

https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/2017/august/virgin-trains-discount-now-live/

Then when you put your times in it usually highlights the cheapest ones with a green circle. I got back from Leeds first class for about 8 quid using it the other week.

Yes, although I found it confusing at first. I.e choosing the 'continue without promotion link' once you select your trains and it gives you the total amount, on the right-hand side it shows the DNA discount you're getting.

I have spoken to the club about this and their advice is;

You can email Lauren.Wrght@Clubdoncaster.co.uk or phone her on 01302 764665 she will be able to walk you through the process.

Not sure I understand that DR.

But you do realise it's a Virgin trains website and not something under the clubs control?

ok fair enough

Yes I do know its beyond the clubs control as such but everybody seems to be having problems with it so surely someone could open some sort of dialog with Virgin to try to sort these glitches out

Just booked return trains from Kings Cross to Donny for next weekend, £58.60. The very same trains booked through the National Rail Website would have cost £79:00. I log in through the DNA website and search for Virgin Trains. Then follow the instructions that take you through to the Virgin East Coast Website, log in (or create account if you don't have one) and any available discounts will be displayed once your journey details are entered.

Discounts appear to available on some but not all services, I suspect the earlier you book the better chance of a good discount. It's convoluted though, I would be the first to admit.

For us old gits does the 1/3 off for a senior railcard still qualify as a saving on top?
