Must win on Saturday!
« on November 22, 2017, 11:30:27 pm by anne honemous »
Wanting to move on as quickly as possible from last night's shambles, then Saturday's game against that lot from down south is undoubtedly our most important of the season - and potentially crucial in DF's future, IMO.

After such a good October results-wise, the most concerning fact is that we're three games into this month and we're yet to register a win.

This game is our last chance in the next fortnight to put a lid on the negativity that could easily breed and put some daylight between ourselves and the relegation zone.

If we don't record a win, then I fear DF could come in for a lot stronger criticism than he's received in a while from the Negative Nigels in the stands who will start flapping at our winless run.

With two weeks before our next (very tough) league game at Oxford, it'll be a much longer wait with negativity in the air than it would be on the back of a much needed win.

We also don't need a winless run extending from 3 to 4, to 5, to 6 games, etc, given what happened the other season when we lost our bottle and let things escalate.

Over to you, DF...

anne, just out of interest, why can't you refer to the "negative nigels" as supporters who are concerned about the position the team is in right now or something along those lines.

............which in real terms is just two points from a possible 9.
It doesn't sound quite the same then does it ?

Because I'm certain there are some supporters who thrive on negativity and for an opportunity to rip into the club, team, manager, players, etc, and make their views heard to all and sundry.

Fair enough i guess but there are still many supporters, like myself for example, who are concerned about the possibility of sliding into a relegation scrap again but still get behind the team and manager wholeheartedly on match days.

But it’s only 3 games hardly a dire situation

The fact is if we maintain our current points per game average until the end of the season we'll end up with 45 points!

When was the last time a team avoided relegation with 45 points?

mmm, not really "only three games" though is it.

It is actually another three games gone and we are now closer to bottom spot in the table.

Last time I missed a home game we won, so let's hope for another win on Saturday.

I think he might bring Whiteman in to freshen it up, but one things for certain, Tommy Rowe needs to pull his finger out. Whilst Marquis is getting pelters at the moment, Rowe seems to be getting away with his 'just enough' performances. As a senior pro in the areas where it matters,  he should be contributing more.

I believe the next three league games will have a massive bearing on where we will end up this season.

If we get 7 points which is achievable then we are on 27 from 22 games (1.23 points/game) which will give us 56/57 points ie lower mid table.
If however we struggle & say get 3 points then we are on 23 from 22 (1.05 points/game) which will give us 48 points ie relegation (probably!!).

So lets see where we are after those three crucial games before getting too gloomy!!

We haven’t managed 7 points from a three game spell in the league since April last season.

I know that, however these next three are probably three of the less hard (didn't want to say easier!!) games we will get this season so as I say lets see where we are after these three before getting too down!!

He wasn't suggesting we had, he was just stating it was achievable.

It may or may not be achieveable.

What is a fact though is that we have not achieved that since April. This is an objective fact.
