I see that Keir has stamped his foot on part of the anti-Semitic gang in the Labour party.... good to see.

At least he has done what needed to be done with that particular person and credit to him. She is part of his biggest problem, some of the people in his own party and their far left faction.
The first chance they get, if he gives them a chance he will be gone.

Not seen what it's in relation to but was it actually anti-Semitic or was it just criticising Israel? Two totally different things and a lot of people can't see the difference. Hopefully SKS can.

It is not really about the article written by Maxine Peake.

There has been a row about opening the schools, which RLB thinks is too early.
Labour have been broadly supportive of the Gov position, and RLB as Shadow Education lead is supporting the teaching unions.

The Maxine Peake article refers to the alleged actions of the Israeli state, not to Jewish people as an ethnic group.

Well, right or wrong, no one can accuse Starmer of not being a decisive leader. Fair play to him.

I notice Maxine Peak has now said she was wrong to say what she did and she that she had misquoted an Amnesty International report.

And that RLB had seen an earlier copy of the interview that quoted the report but it was later edited out of the online version of the paper.

There you go. Always check your 'facts' especially if you want to be a serious politician.

A conspiracy theory claiming American security forces were taught the knee to the neck hold by the Israelis.

Not antisemitic I would say but the Labour Party is very alert to what might be seen as a dog whistle story.

And let's face it, demoting RLB a vestige of the Corbyn era is probably going to play well with the electorate.

Also puts Starmer in a good light compared with Bojo as a man who will take tough decisions.

Bet Robert Jenrick punched the air when this news broke. He's out of the headlines for now, and probably still in a job.

There's a hint of draining the swamp going on here no doubt with the sacking of RLB .

It's likely to put Starmer on a collision course with the left .

It's a battle he's going to have to win should he wish to shape the party his way going forward .

To be honest if some people are put out to secure a win at the next GE then so be it .

Yep, if this is the start of the 'lancing of the boil' that is Labour's left then bring it on.

I've been arguing with "very left" friends that this needs to happen.  This needs to be split into two separate things.

1) win the next GE
2) the policies are irrelevant until then.

There's talk in the Labour Party ranks that RLB was set up to fail and Starmer only carried out his election promise and gave her a shadow cabinet job to keep his word .

Talk is she was useless and he knew she would be and it was only a matter of time before she made a pigs ear of it .

The reality is the Corbynites are electorally toxic , they aren't bad people as such it's the fact to the voters they are and it is what it is .

Take Diane Abbott as an example in the voters eyes but the reality is she's a very good MP in her constituency and has helped a huge number of people with huge difficulties , that's where her skill set is and she should concentrate on that .

Too many of them in my opinion were far too content to be big fish in the Labour Party and happy at that .

Starmer like Blair before him wants government and the ruthless pursuit of it and not to be opposition activists .

Starmer wants unity but it's his unity he wants , there's only one winner here and I think the left know the games up .

There's a place for the left in the party of course there is but it ain't at the top table .

Wow - Rebecca Long Bailey's flatmate has suddenly erased her parliamentary record and become right-wing.

Who knew!
