Title: Season Ticket Sales
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on March 11, 2011, 06:12:46 pm
14 days left to the first deadline and showing 507 sales on the KM website.

I've finally scouted 2 chaps and got them signed up today.

Let's know if you are renewing, how many you've scouted if any or, if you are not renewing. (Don't be shy, this is not for the purpose of criticising anyone.)

What is your best guess for the numbers by 25/03/11 ?

Renewed last week.

Whatever you feel about ST prices for next season, the cheapest way to get one is to get a south stand ticket before the 26th March and you can spread  the cost too.

Renewed mine on 14th February and got someone in through the Club Scout scheme. Not had my cheque yet though, they've only got 3 days left before I start asking questions...

Not sure when I'm renewing mine. Definitely renewing, though. I prefer to pay it all in one go, so it's a case of saving up before I buy.

I'll be renewing just before the March deadline. Wasn't sure whether to do so (I've missed three home games this season so far) but I've decided that the club needs my support.

Proud to say I've only missed one home game this year - Sheffield United, cos I was on my hols  oh and one night I forgot my ST so I had to endure a mad dash around town to find a cash machine in time... which I did! that was Ipswich.. :headbang:

I'm not renewing. Firstly because I'm not sure how many weekends my trade union course at Hull Uni and increasing activity will take up in these harsh times, and secondly, I'm sick to death of the club dropping the price of home games. It seems to me the fair weather fans are thought more of than season ticket holders these days so I thought I'd join them. And I know of a few more who feel the same.

Like I said, if John Ryan honestly thinks he can sell 9 thousand season tickets next season he is deluded. End of.

Getting our two at some point before, just haven't got round to it yet.

Got to laugh at those saying the promotions have screwed them over, they just can't do simple maths, then using the argument that they don't make every single game, well that simply is there fault isn't it?

Got to agree with you there, my season ticket this season works out at £16.50 a game. The fact there have been 3 or 4 games at £15 really doesn't bother me as the majority of games are still £22 or £25 where I sit so I'm still getting better value than those who pay on the day, plus I get 10% off in the club shop too, and priority for away tickets if I ever need it.

Doing mine the end of the month, before they go up (it's the only day I've got off work)

Question - do you actually get the season ticket in your hand when you renew this year, rather than crosssed fingers and an IOU?

Me and my dad are renewing once I've been paid on Friday and using the monthly payment scheme to do so rather than danum credit which we have used for the last couple of seasons.

My prob is that living in Sheffield there's not many folk who i can recommend a season ticket too however if anyone is interested then let me know and well split the savings ?

If you joined the VSC you would be able to access the \"Be a club scout\" part of the forum, where you can advertise your offer there

me and the missus renewed on the 3rd of feb, along with signing my dad and his girlfriend up with the scout scheme. i gave them the total amount of the discount though because i wanted them to have season tickets, and i would have renewed anyway, so i haven't lost out. in fact i've done better than last year because this year i could afford the cost before the early bird deadline.

we also decided that because there are 4 of us we've gone for a car park pass aswell, so a bit more coinage for the club :)

The ST Books will be available some time June onwards.

Some good news coming out and I hope there's more out there. Just lets not be down about special offer matches, your season ticket still provides better value. Once you get out of the habit of attending, you'll find an excuse not to go and the wife will have you shopping when you should be doing the right thing !

You know it makes sense !!

I am glad to find the references to the Alliance on here as I was about to post that I was confused about the discount on ST for 2011/12 and it looks like I am not on my own here !

I had seen both 5% and 10% quoted and indeed deebee quotes 10 above (which I am obviously hoping for) but Filos link to the Alliance pages above swhen opened says 5.

So is this difference due to when you join - i.e. if you are not a Member now but join you get 5% off but if like me you have been in for a Season or so it is 10%

Cheers DW

I am Mr Negative re crowds but what will be will be !

The club cant do no more and likes of the video on the offical web site re visit to schools.... So I think they will come whether paying on game or otherwise!

In terms of securing players on contracts we have done that as well but would not rule out selling players inc Sharp.

If I was to be honest I thought we would be at least a thousand up and people at the top level would be quite right to be concerned.

Lets be right we are in a great position to pick of the sheffield clubs and apart from Leeds who else is there to watch locally?

I don't think it will be a poor take up when it unwinds. Will be getting mine soon too. Btw many Alliance members won't have bought theirs yet because of the extended deadline . Me and my mate and the 10 or so around us have not but will be renewing shortly.

Far far too early to make rapid assumptions re. ST sales imo.

Renewing my 2 today, if i'm honest it was touch and go if I did or not, living and working so close to the ground it wasn't as if I couldn't go and pay for each game at the discounts that have been offered this season.

I do feel though that more needs doing for ST holders, when discounting games so much their needs to be a way of rewarding the ST holders too.

.............. anyway JR you have £680 of my hard earned money, spend it wisely   :scarf:

I thought the season ticket does provide a discount for matches?

Yes, it is a substantial layout initially but each game works  out to be around £16 ish, assuming the person wants to go to every game of course.

PLus the season ticket holder has the added advantage of a discount at the club shop plus away/cup ticket priority.  Not bad really

Exactly :headbang: Why do we continually get ridiculous posts on here still inferring or seemingly inferring that a ST doesn't give those buying them a substantial discount...........it's fookin annoying.
Most ST holders pay in advance in the full knowledge that the club will soon need the cashflow besides there are also discounts available at the Club Shop as well as a guarantee of a seat where and when you want it, additionally first shot at 'away' tickets are available.
NOW LET IT DROP!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I am perfectly calm, what do YOU want for ST Holders ? Cheaper prices ergo cheaper team or some other plan maybe, we need to get folk who are not used to going to the KMS trying the experience and that always takes the subsidising of ticketsm, the club can't keep chucking further discounts to STH as well........it's patently not viable in business terms.

i assume that you've drawn that conclusion from the vast amount of market research you've conducted into the demand for season tickets and the likely increase were the prices to come down to those levels? i fear not.

how about you try running a football club with a limited fanbase?
Title: Re: Season Ticket Sales
Post by: MiKA on March 16, 2011, 04:03:14 pm
I agree hoola, these massively discounted tickets arn't doing the club any favours, they also arn't filling the stadium.

I still feel that enough isn't being done on advertising, flyers would be a good start, I live within a mile of the ground but have never had one come through my door, the profile of the team and the players need lifting, surely we should be getting atleast ten thousand for every home game, that not too much to ask for.

Got my ST's today and there were 3 or 4 there who were doing the same, hopefully as the deadline nears there will be a rush on to make the saving, it does make a change paying less for something this year than last.

well yeah, we're all singing from the same hymn sheet on that one, but the prices for the south stand have been reduced, and they are offering an incentive to try and get other people to sign up. i don't see how that is pulling the fanbase down?

Whereas I would rather give my money to my club rather than some other outfit. I know some people will argue that everyone has the right to decide how to spend their money, but I cannot see how true supporters would prefer to support (financially) the opposition rather than our beloved club.

Bradford also did it.  Problem is despite their bigger crowds both stated that the impact of having less money (as even with more fans they incurred much less income) was significant, Bradford stated they had the crowd of 12,000 and the budget of 4000.

Mmmm. Some interesting comments on here and, some already addresed.

On the issue of those paying by instalments counting as sales at this stage is a good question. I shall find out.

On the issue of flyers, promoting of offers etc the club have made significant improvements recently, particularly with the e-marketing however, those of you who may be missing on these may have opted out of receiving these in the past. If you want to be kept informed left the club have your e-mail address or pass it on to me and I'll do it for you. (make sure you do it via Private Message)

The VSC distributed around 5000 plus Club Scout flyers at the Watford match including all the major pubs around and about.

Lets keep to the thread and report about our ST sales and your investment in our wonderful club.

Went down to the KM ticket office to today and there was a steady stream renewing their STs and scouting new ones.

I note the numbers have gone up to 925 with a week left. I'm waiting for a response from the club whether these include those who have opted to pay by instalment.

Whilst I was down there I detected a more positive vibe and I hope more waverers can find a way to come and support the Rovers next season.

Renewed mine this morning, was about 8/10 in the office also renewing. I asked the very nice Jacqui if the total number of tickets sold included those that opted for the spread payment scheme, and she told me yes.

As I was going into the office 4 people came out waving QPR game tickets and talking in an Eastern European accent. Now, I'm pretty sure we don't have any players in our squad from that neck of the woods, so I was wondering if QPR have any, and those people were getting tickets to see them.

We do have a sizeable Eastern European population in Doncaster, maybe they are starting to adopt thier new home town ;)

Ticket Sales 1043

6 days to the first deadline. I just want those waverers to think on. Perhaps thinking they'd be better off paying match by match for the games on 'offer'. The board have yet to decide on the match day prices for next season. Who's to say Cat 3 prices will remain at £15 for the cheapest price ?? Cat 1 games may go up to £30 a throw.

The offers are limited by Football League rules to 4 games per season, we know ST prices are going up by £20 next year, it would be natural for match day prices to go up by at least £1 a game

Posted my 2 of my renewals yesterday. My grand daughter and her mate have exams and need a part-time job so aren't sure whether to renew.
At least they have until June to decide without the price gouing up. I think that possibly a few might leave kids renewals a bit if money is tight while renewing their own for the discount. This could mean a sudden upsurge in May so kids can keep existing seats.
The ticket office told me yesterday that there had been a steady queue most of the day and there was still a queue when I rang at 4 o'clock.
Sounds promising to me.:scarf:

Got two this morning and there was quite a queue when I left, all renewing, so forecasts of low sales may be a little premature. Mind you, they need more girls in there because there was only three staff and it takes an eternity photocopying this and stapling that before you can get away from the counter.

I will keep my tickets. They are for 25 years anyway. I think that next season is the last one where the price is frozen though so I'll have to see what they do the one after that.

I've been trying to persuade friends to get a season ticket but they either aren't bothered about Rovers or feel they are too expensive for what you get -which is essentially just blokes running around kicking a ball. It's not like any of them are even \"stars\" either is it, or like we're a top ranked team, or that we offer a great day out? It's very difficult to sell the Rovers to the non-initiated at the prices that are asked for tickets/drinks/food/programme/car parking. I do try though.

Lie to them, tell them of the great handjobs they give out at half time, the free beer thats always flowing and the fantastic view of cleavage of the young bird sat only a couple of seats down no matter what the weather...  actually that last ones not a lie and thank christ, because its provided me some right entertainment during some pretty awfull games this season.

If you have to sell them the whole premise of supporting their home town team i think you have lost the battle already, im just making sure my nephews and my son always have a season ticket, most of my mates arent interested if it isnt man u or liverpool.

Been looking in the ticket office each lunchtime as I go past and there seems to be a steady stream of people renewing.

KM site still only showing 1043. may be quite a few more than this by now but it must be getting squeeky bum time for DRFC marketing.

I do know they are looking to achieve approx 2500 to 3000 pre first deadline and similar numbers after. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see equal numbers renewing after however, it must be said that the Club Scout scheme facilitates big savings to the end of June.

Keep the faith.

I'm slightly worried about a post I've read saying I need to set up a standing order with the bank if I want to pay for my season ticket in 4 installments.

I've filled in the form and given the club my bank details to pay this way. I'm an exile and my Dad has taken the form into the ticket office for me. He reckons it's all alright.

Can someone reassure me it's all alright? Cheers.

You be the judge. Personally I hoped we would end up with around 5500 (given the Club Scout this is very modest, but cannot ignore the feedback from those who said they were not renewing and waiting for the offers, some waiting to see which league we're in)

By now though I think we should have been around the 4000 mark however, as said the club think and equal number will renew after the deadline, just as they did last year !??

To be fair the club have been doing better in terms promoting things recently with big prominent adverts in the free press to start with and the vsc promoting the club scout scheme. With that in mind if they promote the next deadline even more prominantley and the BOGOF offer (aka club scout scheme) we could all be pleasantly surprised.

I hope they manage it and that we do get to the goals jr has set. Well hopefully know were safe by then as well?

Out of interest what is the next deadline cost for tickets and what are the offers?
Title: Re: Season Ticket Sales

Next deadline is June 19th, club scout still in force but south stand now cat B and other adult prices up by £20, and you can't pay by instalments now.

Hopefully another surge near that deadline as we'll have secured our Championship status!

Have they done any postal applications yet though. I spoke to them on Monday as I'm an exile and they hadn't even had time to look at applications dropped off at the ground before the QPR game. I posted mine on Monday but with seats being reserved until June there is no need to rush to process postal ones as they know when they were received.

Am i missing something here........athough i agree that season ticket sales maybe down prior to kickoff next year,i wouldnt read to much into sales at this stage.
In reality Its only another £20 to find by the middle of June, which gives a lot of people the best part of onother 3 months to find the money............that is of course if you arent bothered about sitting in the south stand.

To early to make any judgement yet.

PS. Not bought mine yet,but will by June

I dont think its a bad number at all, crikey its 4.5 months before we kick a ball in the new season and we're not certain whether it'll be against Villa or Chesterfield when we do!

Considering the current climate i think its a fair effort, the South Stand tickets being Cat C were a big incentive prior to yesterdays deadline but for the other areas saving 20 quid really is neither here nor there. I can imagine that a fair proportion of the sales will be them in the SS.
