Who would like to swap ends?
« on May 03, 2012, 10:27:51 pm by Bentley Bullet »
Who thinks it would be beneficial to move our home fans into the North stand, and put the away fans in the south stand?
It certainly seems to have better acoustics than the south stand!

I don't get why we weren't there anyway.. it's the Town End after all!

This has something that has puzzled me since day one of the Keepmoat.

Firstly by putting their fans in the South Stand, Car Park 1 can be used for the Coaches, with faster access to the M18.

Many people come past the North Stand to get to the away end.

The North West Stand Corner is the only one that doesn't have a exit, would look much better (as we have seen against Swansea), and also would mean less segregation.

The "extra allocation" for the away fans they built this season is directly below the hospitality boxes, whereas in the South Stand they could use the Family Area. If I was paying a whopping load of money for hospitality when Rovers vs Leeds I would prefer the family area below me rather than Leeds fan, also family area is larger due to 3 extra rows.

The only logical explanation as to why the south stand is the home end is because it is home to the Main Reception, Ticket Office and Club Shop...

Because we'd look silly singing 'south stand barmy army'.

It doesn't have better acoustics, the away fans just outsing us.

Have you checked out the general wind/breeze patterns to qualify your assertion Lee..........I have and you might be surprised at the causes of major acoustic variations within the stadium. ;)

I thought this was an extract from a conversation between two Newcastle United players.

quite right they do, I sit right on the half way line and can always hear the away end as opposed to our fans.
But fans on away day trip always tend to make the most noise, even the Rovers away travellers sound loud and proud.

what about giving the away fans the North and South stands  ?

Then they ll be a great atmosphere and everyone will be happy.

Or what about giving the away fans the North stand 1st half. South stand 2nd half and see which one has better acoustics ??????

Joke lads, dont get all sulky

There'd be more trouble if the away fans had to walk around the ground to get in and out of their end. It's easier to police at the north stand.

The North stand was designed for the away fans and can be compartmentalised into 3 separate sections, which from a catering and facility point of view is ideal.

i used to sit in near the wsbba, when we played accy stanley they had around the same amount of singers but you could hear them in the south stand.
you can only hear the south stand on the odd occasion from the north west including the drum, so imo the acoustics have alot to do with it.
try a unreserved seating in the ss for a while ,with the option of using a season ticket for any other part of the ground to admit you in too.
the away fans could be housed in the area provided for the overflow of leeds fans as i cant forsee many matches next season that we will have many more than a few hundred visiting fans

Id close the west stand next season for season tickets and only sell tickets on match days if other 3 stands sell out.
I would give the extra allocation in the East Stand (and third/Half of North Stand if a big following) to away fans and give North, South, Hospitality and Family areas as the home end. At least then it would look much more full on the tele and if the people of Doncaster watching the highlights of a game see it looks full the chances are more will come...

The wind carries the sound, and it is usually northerly. That's why the North stand noise travels down the pitch, and the south stand noise does an upwards U turn and goes over the stand and heads towards the M18!

Stand in the out let car park during a game. Its louder there than what it is in the ground.

That much is true and I would prefer to swap unless summat can be done with the roof. ;)

This was discussed during planning stages of the stadium. The reason away fans were given the north stand was because the sun would be in your eyes for the majority if games. Simple as that! It was for fans comfort.

It is a bit extreme, and wide of the mark. But his VSC status has nothing to do with and why should it?

Wellred it wasn't a suggestion, only my opinion. I don't plan to put it to the club but I am allowed to express myself am I not? Thus the use of words such as "I'd" We close the South Stand in numerous non-league games whereas IMO opinion closing the West Stand would look more effective when watching highlights etc.

Look at Watford who have closed off one of the sides of the pitch, admittedly when your in the ground it looks crap but from a TV perspective because it can't be seen the Watford home following generally looks better than what it is. Okay Watford have closed it for various different reasons but are they in any hurry to rush on the work being done and plan to reopen it any time soon?
