A follow up to my chat with Gavin. r.e. signings
« on August 10, 2012, 04:02:31 pm by silent majority »
OK, I might not have express permission to reveal this but I've just seen at the Keepmoat our next signing just as he was making his way into Gavin's office to sign. We now have another centre half Jamie McCombe from Huddersfield!! Another very tall 6'5" CH to partner in the middle with Jones!! Great signing.

Update on Stocky is that everything should conclude tomorrow, just paperwork delays etc but now has the green light.

The striker option will be decided on Monday so Deano knows whether his option is A or B so expect some news about 24 hours later, these things have to be confirmed first before the club will announce!!

Well done Dean and Gavin, lets keep up the momentum, more good signings for the DRFC family!

Good stuff! We should be strong in the air for the first time in about 15 years!

Indeed excellent signing - ex Bristol City and played regular Championship football as well I think

Well pleased, only I guess too late to play tomorrow. Hoping at least one of Jones/Wakefield is fit.

Yet more great information flow from GB/SM - many thanks to all concerned

Things definitely looking up  :scarf:

Great stuff, cheers S_M. Looks like the defence is taking shape. Any clues on the striker(s), go on, you know you want to ;)

Does Dean have a good idea which one yet, or does it depend on if we have anyone else coming in...?

Good signing in my opinion! Is it a permanent transfer or a loan?

Dean has made his offer, he'll have to wait until Monday for the response and once he knows that he can confirm one way or the other.

Anyone feel that we could do with another that has a bit of pace at the back ?

Why is it that when we sign a quality player, somebody always wants something better :( :rtid:

What are the odds on our centre halfs out-scoring our strikers?

Big threat from set pieces with Jones and McCombe wondering up from the back.

I think he can play tomorrow (unless you're coming from a fitness point of view) as you only have to be registered up to three hours prior to kick off.

Saunders has said 2 defenders so it's probably safe to assume we'll be getting another pacey defender.

Just had a quick search on a Preston North End forum as he spent a short period of time there on loan last season. It seems that they rate him quite highly. Really stabilised their defence last season according to reports on there!

Our corners will have to beat the first man for that to happen! Haha

Sure he was at Lincoln a few years back and I think SOD made some enquiries but I think he went to Brissle from there.

Big lad !!

Sorry there's only one 'animal'. :) However things seem to be shaping up and getting accurate info from SM makes a refreshing change.  :rtid:

When i was a kid in the 80's (Can't remember who it was against or the score) if i remember correctly Animal had just come on as a Sub and there was a drop ball and he decided to take out their best player below the knees and got sent off, my hero haha. Him and young Snod were a joy to watch back then for me as a kid :)

I agree, but a different era now. Your not aloud to touch anybody these days. My fondest memory of Animal was when we had a drop ball and he clobbered the kid and was half way to the tunnel before the ref managed to get the red card out

Beat me too it

Seem to remember us trying to sign him from Lincoln a few years ago when Bristol got him instead, was a very promising CB and have to say I'm impressed by this news. Hopefully we can move sick note on (take your pick but the obvious one).

Remember it well, Alan Little, dont think the ball touched the floor before he decked him.

...and you just knew he was gonna get sent off as soon as the ref had the ball in his hand.
