Apparently he's had some mental health troubles and has signed for a part time team while he focuses on other stuff. Was considered packing it in entirely I believe. He hasn't covered himself in glory in the past but fair play to him if that's the case.

Spalding manager, Zakuani played with him at posh by the looks of it. Hopefully sort him out, a real waste of talent.

It’s his choice, he could play higher but doesn’t want to. Complicated character.

I’d have him in a heartbeat .....if his attitude and mental problems could be sorted he would make a very worthy asset,

Marcus Maddison. Ravel Morrison. Nile Ranger.

Very talented to a greater or lesser degree. Mentally not there. Some great managers have tried and failed to connect the dots. Not happening.

Maddison has played about 300 games, it’s only the last couple of years he’s really fallen out with it. The other two have never got going at all.

Ben Marshall has done something similar. Signed a 4 year deal at Norwich but his head went & packed in after a year aged 28. Now signed for his mates team massively down the pyramid but is now back properly enjoying his football.

Maddison does come across as a bit of a divvy, though.

Surely, these players with mental health issues that can still play a bit would be welcome at our club, where we have someone specifically employed to work with these people, ie, James Coppinger

There are resources out there. You have to be willing to do the work to understand what’s goong on and then work through it and heal.

From what's been said about Maddison, he has mental health issues.  Copps' isn't a psychologist and certainly wouldn't be able to fix mental health problems.

Maddison is due to be sentenced next month after an attack in Darlington which saw him punch a 60-year-old woman in the face.

Wouldn’t it be a different football world if we took hateful, nasty ,destructive criticisms of players out of our banter?

Unlike you, I don't speak for others. However, I believe those of us who have had mental health problems in the past wouldn't have laughed at Paul Gascoigne's problems but thanks for telling us and everybody else that we did.

I hope the poor 60 year old woman finds peace and gets all the support she needs so she isn’t scared to death every time someone walks towards her. Hope Madison gets a long sentence.

I have removed my earlier post having just read the report of the incident in which he punched a woman in the face so hard it broke her nose & caused other facial fractures. He will be sentenced on August 8th after having ‘no commented’ throughout a previous police interview he later walked into a police station voluntarily & admitted to the assault.

You can ‘feel’ for someone going through mental health issues but after an incident like that all sympathy goes out of the window.

Hateful, nasty, destructive criticisms of players (or opposition fans) aren't banter.

Be more constructive in your comments.

Admonishing a poster for using in your eyes an ‘inappropriate’ descriptive word for ‘comments’ as opposed to banter is not a hill you would want to die on…….surely?

I wasn't admonishing anybody. And I think pointing out what banter isn't is constructive in itself.

It wasn’t constructive in this instance, it was patronising.

Presumably in the same way you're being patronising to me?
