Terry Cooper RIP
« on July 31, 2021, 09:29:33 pm by Branton Rover »
Sad to report the passing of another former Leeds United legend Terry Cooper who joins recently departed ex teammates; Big Jack Charlton, Norman Hunter, Peter Lorimer, Trevor Cherry & Mick Bates.
Also Terry turned out 20 times for us during the 81/82 season playing under Billy Bremner before going into football management most notably with Bristol City
Condolences to his nearest and dearest

Started off at Ferrybridge Amateurs near Knottingley who Leeds provided with a full strip when they signed Terry.

Another one of the Revie stars. Fabulous memories of him and Eddie Gray on the left side of the the Leeds team. Best attacking full back of that era.

R.I.P. Terry Cooper

No, we won that one with nine men! Had Ray Deans sent off as well.

I thought Cooper and someone else got sent of in the 5-0 beating and we finished that game with 9 men.
Could be wrong though.

I knew Cyril Knowles from Hemsworth who played at at Spurs at that time Paul, you know the nice one Cyril song. I can always remember him moaning that Cooper kept him out of the England team when he said that when Spurs played Leeds at that time Nicholson the manager always told them to attack Cooper because he couldn't tackle, the Germans also thought that in the Mexico world cup when they put a sub on who tore him to pieces.
A great player though and a nice bloke in a great team who got to the top by hard work and ability, fantastic going forward.

One of the first wingers converted to defence which was easier when he went forward with Hunter covering him.

Trevor Cherry was actually a better defender than Terry Cooper Brian.
He was not a good tackler but as you say he had Bite yer legs Norman covering him.
Going forward though he was excellent and his partnership with Eddie Gray down the left was brilliant.
