He is a very good player.  Can play centre back, midfield and looks like he could play up front if needed!

SOD has tracked him for a while, out of contract in the summer. A proper Championship player.  If we have no chance of signing Shack then I would certainly like the look of Martis and Ward at the back.

Ward Ward Ward
Scores Overhead Kicks

ironically, my missus said she felt sorry for him last night as apparently he looked like he was waiting to hear his name when we were singing for sharp and coppinger at the end. we'll have to give him a song next time :)

Ward: Played well, scored a wonder goal, and didn't get injured as far as we know. The latter is unusual for our CBs. All positives.
On a great night there was just one small negative for me, (nothing to do with Ward, and not aimed at the posters above): When Lewis came on, for maybe 5 mins, with the game won, some idiot behind me launched into pathetic abuse and ridicule of him. No one in red and white hoops deserves that, especially when there was so much to celebrate. Anyway, I'm still on a high about that performance and result.

This thread appears to have meandered towards a particular bugbear of mine... Namely the lack of originality in the chants and songs that the Rovers crowd generate. I know it's a trivial matter, but we seem to have lost a lot of the wit often at the heart of chants originating from the Pop Side dozen. It really irks me when song suggestions on here begin with \"We could sing this like Club X do\".

Come on folks. There's a world of music out there. Try something different

To the tune Just Can't Get Enough

When Wardy's in the air, he always wins the ball
I Just Can't Get Enough, I Just Can't Get Enough
When Wardy's in the box, he scores bicycle kicks
I Just Can't Get Enough, I Just Can't Get Enough
When Wardy makes a tackle, he always wins the ball
I Just Can't Get Enough, I Just Can't Get Enough

thoughts?  :)

Despite having just posted a rip off chant, I agree 100%. I'll try not to be so lazy in future.

I blame it on the blanket tv coverage. Another bugbear is chants that don't rhyme properly.

It's shocking we don't have a decent JR or SOD chant either.

I thought Ward was excellent last night and his goal looks better everytime I see it. Sign him up. In the interview afterwards he sounded like he'd be happy to stay here long term.

I like that RB. Nice and simple.

I'll still stick my own suggestion up though:

Agadoo:

Elliott Ward, Ward, Ward,
Came to Rovers and he scored,
With his feet above his head,
Made the Hillsborough Kop go dead.

Good to see some creativity here. I also like RB's Katy Perry suggestion.

Good shout as well Mike, though if you lose one of the 'Ward's in the opening line and it scans much better.

You could add a second bit as well...

Swung his left, and his right,
Jumped up and scored a great volley
He's our new centre back,
Eliott Ward from Coventry

You're right there mate. I was pronouncing it Ell-Yot to get it into two syllables. Your version is truer to the original.

How about this though:

Swung his left and his right,
He was upside down in flight,
Smashed the ball in the goal,
Elliot Ward is our hero.

Oh Elliot Ward,
What a debut goal he scored,
He put Wednesday to the sword,
The away end stood and roared!

got to admit, if his contract does indeed expire in the summer SoD, would be a fool not to bring him to the rovers.
