Jordan Houghton loan
« on December 17, 2017, 10:52:58 am by phil old leake »
I was at yesterday’s game and I heard someone behind me saying that Rovers wanted to sign JH but can’t because Chelsea have said they won’t sell

Does anyone know about this or was he just talking and speculating

I’d love to see him at rovers. Unfortunately I can see him going to the Championship.

I think Rovers are interested in signing him permanently. However he signed a new contract at Chelsea last season so I doubt they are ready to cash in yet. I think our best hope is to extend his loan to the end of the season.

Ferguson said about two weeks ago that he would be interested in signing him permanently if possible.

3 mins into this interview.

It is. I suppose it depends on whether Chelsea want to offer him a new deal. We will obviously have to pay something due to his age if he was to join unless Mr Abramovich would like to give us an early Christmas present.

I think Chelsea offered him an extension so they would not lose him for nothing. I can see him signing for us.

I believe that was the 5 year aim. The cost of Championship football may be prohibitive we will see.

I dont think Houghton will stay beyond this season. But this policy of bringing in youth players from other ciubs doesnt say a lot about our own youth players. Why be giving experiance to players who on the hole have proved nothing and if they did would the Rovers have the finance or the ambition to buy these players/If thats the policy the rovers want to play give our own youngsters a chance you never know we could unveil a gem of our own

Give it a rest Esdaille.

You're not supporting Rovers anymore allegedly so do us all a favour and give up coming on a Rovers forum to talk about Rovers.

It's easier to balance the books in the Championship than it is in Lg1.

I agree with ELF

Why would he leave his contract at Chelsea to sign for us when we are going no where fast.

Give your heads a wobble lads!

Give it a rest SM I don't think JR could ever be criticised for not putting his money into the Rovers.

I'm sure living in Canada gives you a good handle on the nuances at stake here. I don't remember JR's friends threatening to take your house off you and sue you for everything you have either.

Would that allow us to bring Championship quality players wages and fees to ensure we can stay in the Championship.
