It is official - he's gone!
« on January 06, 2013, 08:22:33 pm by silent majority »
I've just been speaking to the club, who are anxious that all DRFC supporters get to hear as quick as possible what's happening and not have to rely on rumour.

But the deal has been done, Dean has joined Wolves and compensation has been agreed.

Of course he leaves the club with our best wishes and we hope he does well for Wolves and himself.

Plan B is now firmly in place and details of that will be announced very shortly.

The club will be compiling a short-list of interested candidates and the successor will be chosen from those within the next few days.

Time to focus on this now.

Thanks for the information SM. Life goes on and I have faith in JR and Watson to make the right appointment.

Onwards!

Big fish eat small fish....thats the way of the world.

I think Jones should be given a run as caretaker, to minimise disruption and see if the players want it for DRFC and themselves, rather than coping with the changes a new boss might make.

Longer term, if it does not work out with Jones/Flynn, then recruit from the place we will feed for players. Tisdale at Exeter comes to mind, but we would be doing a Wolves on them in turn, would'nt we?

OK,

I know what the plan is and where we are currently. Unfortunately a few phone calls need to be made before I can confirm anything, but suffice to say the new manager won't be in place this weekend. But you won't be disappointed with the interim arrangement and you won't be disappointed with the final outcome.

From a personal perspective I would add that this is not a bad thing, but a blessing in disguise!

How short is very short? Is the list of interested candidates long, and are there any names that jump out at you on there, if you are privy to that sort of info? Are we to take this that there is a lot of interest in this job? And how good was the compensation, without going into pounds and pence obviously. Cheers for the info as ever SM, even though it's not good news this time.

If this were after the transfer window had closed I might agree but as it is I want the new manager in with as much of the window left open as possible.

Apparently Carey and Purchase have followed him.

No news on the others though.

Please SM can we learn the lessons from SOD removal and not start saying things like blessing in disguise, it makes us look like we have no class.

OK, Mal and Brian have gone, they were part of the package.

My understanding is there are 7 candidates, some exceptionally good ones.

When I say it may be a blessing in disguise I mean that some of the football served up didn't do the players justice, they are far better than that. Somebody else will/could get better performances out of this squad. I also think that the squad camaraderie wasn't all down to Deano. But that is my personal opinion!!

I have no clue who I would like as the next manager of this club to carry on the excellent work done so far this season. All I ask is that we think outside the box a bit and not go for one of these tried, tested and failed managers straight off the merry-go-round ie. a lot of the names suggested on here. Based on track record I think JR (& DW) will see us right but some of the names I've seen on here worry me greatly.

I know you're only trying to soften the blow SM, but it's funny how dramatically your line on things changes with a development like this.

Yes, you're right, I myself fell into that trap at the time and regretted what I said. But I am just trying to stop the doom and gloom merchants from picking at what we have.

I wonder if the players will be consulted as to who they'd like to take over?

I'm not saying they should/shouldn't either way. I'm not familiar with what is common in football.

I think it's worth noting that the club have handled this with expedience and great dignity, and have been as informative as can be by keeping S_M informed. Let's not forget, we have been kept in the dark in the past so a big thumbs up to those in the loop.
