Tony Adams lives next village but two to me. Snag id, last time I heard anyway, He's working in Azerbaijan or somewhere equally stupid. I haven't checked very recently, but he was. So even if he came back or is already here, he'd be a fair way from his home.

Anyway, he wasn't very successful last time he tried it in this country was he?

Cheers

Keegan will always get mentioned but I can't see him ever managing again nor can I see Penney or SOD returning

I'm amazed Alan Irvine hasn't had a sniff of any job since his departure from Wednesday.

He seemed to do a really good job at PNE (only fired because their board thought Fergie Jnr could get them to the Prem) and they played some decent stuff.

Too much off-field stuff at Hillsborough makes it difficult to judge him, but so many decent managers have failed there anyway, so we should discount that episode.

Alan Irvine would be a good shout for me, not so good at Wednesday but he'll improve I'm sure.

Irvine must be known to JR. PNE had a couple of decent games against us in the Championship with him in charge.
They play good stuff.
Irvine is a progressive thinker & had a decent fitness record (sure that Brown only got crocked with Fergie was manager), similar to Dean.
That has to be a big part in it, as we are maintaining a small-ish squad.

With JR, it's always someone out of the blue, that no-one's ever given any thought too.
And JR always knows best!

Peter Reid put his hat in the ring for the Rovers job when Penney left, something appeared in the newspapers but I don't think he was ever on our shortlist.

Irvine for me too, he's more than capable of carrying on the good work and getting us promotion. Imo he has been very hard done to in previous positions and would get the time here he needs.
Providing he wants to come of course.......he's far too capable just to be coaching at PNE.

He's in charge of the Everton Academy, which is a fair bit better than coaching at Preston. But he is a decent manager and I don't think I'd be too disappointed if he came in.

How about someone like David Weir , currently coaching at Everton . Good playing pedigree , well respected and well connected in England and Scotland . Only 42 .

Blimey, hang on a minute; how much coaching talent has David Moyes got at Everton?

Alan Irvine
David Weir
John Doolan

Quite a back room team he's got there!

If Keith Hill can get our team playing the way Barnsley played against us at Oakwell when Rovers lost 2-0, absolutely battered us, l think we didn't touch the ball for 15 mins at one point then l would certainly take him. He worked miracles at Rochdale and l don't think he stood a chance at Oakwell with the budget and now its revealed a £6 million wage bill.

The list of available managers isn't really inspiring and Barnsley are moving fast through it.
