Not a well researched piece!

The Keepmoat stadium is the new 15,000 all seater home of Doncaster Rovers FC

It`s 6 years old, hardly new!

Gerry remarked on the referee (Tony Bates) who he had seen before

His mate needs to go to Specsavers, the ref was Richard Clark!

against a spirited Colchester side that bossed possession and were the better team for long periods of the game

LOL! We weren't good, but that statement cannot be taken seriously. The possession must have been 50/50 or somewhere close, and they were pretty damned poor. We should have taken them apart, and had we been playing like we did against Sheffield Utd. we would have done.

On the team sheets given out in the Premier lounge it had Mr Bates as the ref. I would have presumed these would have been up to date.
I guess one should never presume. He did look like Bates though.

And the stadium is new to them, they've never been here before and let's face it, it is one of the newest grounds in the country. Bates was also down as the referee on all the sheets and the programme.

Nitpicking to a high degree there, Filo.

Very interesting and well written and provides a pretty accurate account of a game which Colchester should have got something out of.   It would be nice if someone were to do something similar for Rovers away matches?

IF they really did boss the possession, somebody must have been counting all of the time the ball stood in the six yard box waiting for their keeper to take goal kicks.  Funny how they suddenly found some urgency after the 83rd minute.

They had one attempt on target, they make have bossed possession on the edge of their own box

No pasties or meat and potato potato and meat pies in any end as far as I'm aware - choice is steak, chicken & mushroom or "cheese", not sure what the boards say.

A very tasty picture of a Cornish pasty had me proper salivating by the time I got to the front of the queue, only to find they don't sell them anymore.

You'd think they could get the name of the referee correct on the teamsheets! It was Richard Clark, a late replacement for the injured Tony Bates.

Both are of a similar body shape, though, so I suppose that is how the confusion arose.
