Billy Sharp Manager with Aaron Mclean as assistant
« on January 07, 2013, 09:46:53 pm by streatham dave »
Yesterday Billy jokingly (I assume it is fair to say jokingly) on twitter suggested putting his name in the ring as player manager and Aaron Mclean put himself forward as assistant. If this was genuine and JR and co could stump up the cash would you go with it and have them appointed. I'm going for yeah why the hell not. They would fire us out of this division if nothing else. :rtid: He said he would make Cotterill captain by the way if that makes any difference.

I have no idea. Sharp has mentioned it again today "Whoever the donny manager will be,he will have a great job, joint top and a big chance of promotion". He has been taken off the squad list at Southampton today apparently which makes it look to me like a permanent move to the trees is likely.

Does anyone know if we have a sell on clause?

Given this was one of the worst deals negotiated in human history Bob, I doubt highly that there is any sell-on clause negotiated. Indeed given past history, I would not be surprised if we had to make some form of payment should he move.

:):) Thanks CBCH

I can understand the cash value of the deal that was done. It was simply because £1.8M or whatever it was was the amount needed to trigger a release clause in Billy's contract. I am told he leaked the figure to the Saints as he didn't want to stay here and he did want to go there. Might or might not be true - but if it is, it would explain the low fee after refusing a much larger one.  So to me the Q is did we manage to get a sell on clause in the deal? We would have been in a pretty weak position and did we still have Deadly Dave at the time too? I'm not too confident - but it would be nice if it was 20% or something!

Cheers

BobG
