Swings and Roundabouts

Copps got the entire second half this evening but could do nothing to stop Forest going down 3-1 to tractor-borne shitsuckers Ipswich Town. Thankfully he still appears to be injury free.

I've just seen the goals on SSN.  Forest's defending is truly awful.  All three goals handed to Ipswich on a plate.

When sod looks to buy defenders his first requirement is can they play, are they good on the ball, whereas in my opinion the first requirement should be can they defend can they head everything away.
The defenders he's signed for forest are terrible signings with the money he has available, they were discussing it the other day on five live about the money wasted on poor defenders, and it showed again last night,

Of course you're absolutely correct and I can't quite understand why SO'D looks at it that way  :silly:

Not sure how true that is to be honest. Look at his time with us - Matt Mills yes, but Dennis Souza and Wayne Thomas??!?

Forest have the (joint) fourth best defence in the Championship, and the (joint) third highest number of clean sheets in the Championship.

Not that terrible.

Both were panic buys really though, and Souza's f**king scarred me for life.

Give him time, they will be eventually.Conceding from set pieces will be their worse weekness too. ;)

Monk, I agree shackell was a great defender. But my point was sods first requirement is can the boy play football first.
Your point about shackell doesn't oppose that opinion it just means he found someone who could play and also defend,
Put it this way he wouldn't have ever signed jones or Mccombe

Yes, when he was at Lincoln I believe.

You look back at Shackellgate and you wonder in the longer term how much that actually cost us. Now don't get me wrong, had we have signed Shackell he may have still gone to other clubs for more money but we may not have had to throw good money after bad trying to find replacements.
