I think it's quite fascinating, the approach we take over the interview process. I'd be surprised if many other clubs follow this particular process as football seems to be as far detached from reality as it could be. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and some want to see us headhunting or just picking a 'name'. It's just a shame that recent managerial employees haven't reciprocated the same professionalism. Maybe this time, eh?

I think this process is another example of how well and professionally the club is run.

19 years since we appointed a full time manager who was English. What chance that run being broken next month?

Our last manager was English

Yeah but born and bred in England. For me that makes him English.

Yeah but born and bred in England. For me that makes him English.
if your mum and dad, both born and bred in Doncaster, and as Yorkshire as they come, moved to China when your mum was 8 months pregnant. And stopped there for a few years after the birth, would you consider yourself Chinese?
Place of birth is just where your mother happens to be when she is ready to drop, aside from qualifying for a national side, doesn't actually mean much in relation to your true nationality or heritage.

...25 years since Rovers had a manager of Chinese descent.

I must admit I've been watching this one as well with vague amusement as to how long we've gone without an English manager since Dave Penney, its quite the run. Can we agree on 'declared nationality' for football purposes? I think Sean O'Driscoll is Black Country through and through but obviously he declared and played for ROI.

You'd be English and Chinese.

I'd be very happy with Stendel, but would he be one of those who is requesting too much. For example, can League One Doncaster Rovers offer a similar wage to a Championship Barnsley or SPFL Hearts? All bias aside, would you take a pay cut to manage Doncaster Rovers?

Better to have some money coming in, in a stable environment rather than nothing.
We have in recent years particularly given the manager a decent platform to work in, that being borne out by the last 2 managers being packed by clubs in a higher division, and also not having a reputation as a club for knee jerk sackings. That should count for something too.

Why who is he managing now to need to take a pay cut?

Just been reading that he applied for the Sunderland job last year so not beyond the realms of possibility that he might apply for Rovers

We're run well, I imagine the manager will be paid more than the players. I don't think it's a position we would be tight with in the same way we are with players

Plus with his last couple of roles surely stability with our owners would be great.

You'd like to think not.

I'd be interested to know what the average wage is for like a league one manager?   I've always had the idea that football managers aren't that well paid for some reason?

Obviously I'd imagine well paid in comparison to your average job, but not in the football world ?

100k a year?

200k a year?

500k a year?

Genuinely intrigued.

At a guess, I reckon £50-100k for most in L1.

Plus the prospect of doubling that with various bonuses and promotion.

I wonder if Danny Rose might have applied. Home town. Not got even Squad number at TH. Contract must be about up. Probably learned lots from some good managers. Maybe he fancies a "Coaches" job.
the man hates the town. Its a no from me

Anything to back this up with? Or is it just made up?

I think Fergie was on about 150-180k.
