Don’t know, maybe. Local rag in Edinburgh reporting today that he turned down training with Hearts last week as his previous injury still not fully sorted.

Joe Wright has been at Cantley Park this week training with Rovers.

If fit and he wanted to join, he would improve our back four, would be the best centre half we have, accepting Anderson at his best.

How can you possibly know that when he hasn't played in over a year and he wasn't even our best centre half when he did get injured?

If and it’s a big if, if he is also back to his best, I mean. Nobody can know that until he’s trained and played some games.

He wasn’t faultless defensively, let’s say that. He could bring the ball out though, which is how John Stones has made a career despite not actually being a great defender.

Absolutely agree with that. A very good player, but by God, he had some howlers in him. I'd welcome him into our defence at the moment though, because I think it's our weakest area, despite having numbers in there.

I would take Wright on a two year deal, once he has proven he’s over his injury. Other than that let’s get some fresh blood in.

How long would you give him to prove his fitness before giving him that two year deal then? And would that be on the same or less than he rejected?

It depends if he wants to join. We can’t compete with Hearts on wages. A couple of months, see if he’s still the same player.

Well, they seemed to end their interest in Joe very suddenly after saying they wanted to offer him something...

Hearts manager "You were getting how much at Doncaster!?" "Should have stayed there laddie!"

You never seem to miss an opportunity to aim a sly dig at Joe Wright. Assume you think you’ve been privy to some information which perhaps doesn’t tell the full story.

Jonathan. That is not a sly dig at Joe at all! If anything, it's in support of my club. Get off my case as far as Joe is concerned. If you care to read all my posts on the subject, you can see I take a neutral stance, understanding his desire to better himself and suggesting he could do well in the SPL. He's been unlucky with injury. End of.
