If we sign three defenders and a couple of midfielders who are good at this level we might have a chance

The squad is too unbalanced atm

This good news glad to see eventually we got the figures right and John signed . Now it's to CEO and DF of course to sign two defenders and two midfield players and we may have a good squad who can be competitive.

Great news. Finally one we can put to bed, fairplay to the board for backing Fergie with giving JM a long term deal too.

Some say not proven but look at goals to games and that looks very good to me.

I reckon the sticking point was that we initially offered a two year deal & JM wanted a three year deal. Could be totally wrong but hey it doesnt matter now he's signed.

Thats what it was I've heard. All about the contract length.
He was always going to resign eventually.

Wait, the news was that he signed an extended deal? I thought from the video it was just that he found that bloody pen! I turned away to jump around in glee when I saw it in his hand, never bothered to keep watching for a contract renewal. Bit like Brentford when Trotta hit the bar, nearly missed the goal!

Good result. Protects us.

He though like rest of them should be sending a written apology to each and every Rovers fan following the dirge crapped out in the final five games of the season. Risible.

Needs to step up this season.

Why? You take the good with the bad.
Fair enough, I agree that we were shocking over the final 5 games or so.. but they shouldn't need to apoligise. 5 awful games over 46 isn't bad.

I've been told from somebody that I do trust a lot. They wouldn't lie. He told me last week the sticking point is the contract length.
We offered two, he wanted three.

Tell me that isn't right SM?
Doesn't really matter now anyhow, main thing is that he is signed and ready for the new season ahead.

Mine was a general point and not specific to JM. But if you think that the club would stall for 2 months just on the length of a players contract then you would be mistaken.

Players contracts are notoriously difficult with all kind of sub-clauses built in, such as relegation clauses, promotion clauses, signing on fees (just for signing a new contract), travel time, percentage increases, bonus payments for wins, bonus payments for promotion, a different bonus for getting into the playoffs, and then the thorny subject of how much the player wants to be paid per week etc etc. and then, to top it all the agent will want his cut and the player will want the club to pay that as well. The last contract I ever saw had something like 23 separate clauses built in. Now that's why they can take a long time to negotiate.

And to add, the club will also have to keep within FFP rules, not blow their whole budget on one player, nor break their agreed ceiling level and hoping the rest of the squad don't ask for similar increases. Its easy isn't it?
