Yes, it is, when you're schooled in that sort of thing. Obviously a lot more difficult when you're mere bystanders like most supporters.

Just pleased it's all done and dusted, so no further discussion needed, except to say Barnsley and Ipswich and all the others can go and swivel!

If he has a bad start to the season I wonder who will say something along the lines of "now he has got his contract he isn't the player he was".

Another feather in the owners and the managements hat.
No panic, keeping things close to their chest, and getting the player to sign,so he must be happy and feel wanted by the club and the supporters.
And a bit of fun with the signing video,I feel the club is on the up,attracting players like Roe,Marquis,Taylor etc. at this level is great,Houghton would really take us on to another level, him and the french lad and that would be about it for me.
If John does well before Christmas, I would expect the vultures to circle, but now the club and the player would be in a strong position to get their just deserts.

I was there and Selby is correct, get Houghton back and sign the French lad who was absolute quality he can play football,he reminds me of Keshi similar quality and he could be the next Copps,Copps who is getting better as he gets older,Copps linked naturally with the French lad two quality players.

We haven't seen Kiwomya yet! Could it be that the 2 of them are very similar? However, we need options and back-up and having both of them can only be a positive.

It's funny...when I think about it, every single pre-season for the past 30+ years has been spent worrying, fretting and arguing that we should be doing this that and the other. I remember that way back in the day you only heard Rovers had signed a player when it was on the back page of the Evening Post and if there was no news my old man would be shouting "bloody Bremmner better pull his finger out and sign some defenders or we're buggered next season".

Move forward a couple of decades and we're doing just the same, only this time online.

And despite the pre season stress it usually always sorts itself out in the end...

Apart from when Wnaker Weaver was on the scene in the bad days,, I think Fergies been our worst manager in the last few years for building a good defence!!!!

We always had good and strong defenders under Sod,, penney and saunders!!  And even Dickov wasnt bad too,, we just couldnt get a goal under him!!!

This is the best attacking team since Penney though.

Rickover wasn't that bad? You're having a giraffe. He was one of the worst managers we've had - period. And where is he now?

Correct - unemployed.

We were alright at centre back most of the time with him but we were awful going forward when he was manager!!!

Hes better than fergie at the back!

There's always pre-season angst, then excitement, optimism, then anguish when the first match goes tits up!

Marquis is more likely to be a marked man this season but that could open things up for Rowe, Copps, Williams/Mandeville/May/Kiwomya * delete where appropriate.

In Dickov's defence, wasn't he the first appointed manager after the SOD and Saunders' relative high purse reigns, to lead Rovers in a new era of austerity?

Are we ignoring the agent fee and signing on fee as well as any wages and clauses? can't imagine they'll have been on peanuts... but let's just have a dig eh?

Your comment about leading the club in a period of austerity kind of implies it...

Yes, it does! but you are now implying that agent fees and signing on fees, as well as wages, were introduced by Dickov!

Not really, just that you appear not to be taking them into account when you speak of austerity...

I have to agree.
Dickovs team did struggle to score goals but by some distance they were more solid defensively than Fergusons teams.

Easier to have an improved defensive record when your teams shit scared to play a forward pass.

Just noticed something about your posts.
When you use the exclamation mark or question mark key, does your finger get stuck?

Just wondered.
