Today’s team
COYR
-
I don't get why he isn't starting Bostock. I know his performances haven't been what he is capable of but not a single player in that squad has performed to their best in the new year and he is our best midfielder imo so should be starting.
-
No copps?
-
Hope he knows what he is doing with this line up, hopefully prove me wrong
-
5-2-3?
-
5-2-3?
DFP reckon 4-5-1
-
I wonder if he’s dropped Copps for calling his team mates out?
-
Difficult to see where a goal will come from! Time for some one to shine.
-
5-2-3?
DFP reckon 4-5-1
I wonder if the DFP get their info from the BBC site. Interesting to see if Wright plays at RB and John at CB
-
I wonder if he’s dropped Copps for calling his team mates out?
I doubt that very much.
-
I wonder if he’s dropped Copps for calling his team mates out?
That was my first thought too.
-
Robertson needs to keep the ball better second touch is a tackle
-
I wonder if he’s dropped Copps for calling his team mates out?
That was my first thought too.
Absolutely no chance.
And Liam doesn't get his formation from the BBC website EfD, he gets it from being at the stadium and talking to the relevant people before the game.
-
Shocking thought but I wonder if Copps is the agitator that SM mentioned who would be gone soon....
That beggars belief but it crossed my mind.
Well, PDX, I'm no more in the know than you are mate but that thought really must be the most bonkers thing I think I've ever read on here, and believe me there's plenty of competition.
-
Looking for a more confident display today, since AB pinpointed that as the problem after having spoken to the lads individually this week.
-
From Tom Biltcliffe’s Twitter feed
On Copps, seemed to be going through a fitness test when I got to the ground (1pm). Obviously failed that. Now has a milky coffee on the go
-
Liam Hoden.
I believe it's a knee injury for James Coppinger. Had a fitness test earlier this afternoon. Will get full confirmation after the game #drfc

I know. Like I said, it’s unthinkable, but it crossed my mind. That’s all. I was ashamed to even let that thought out.
But it seems he failed a fitness test.
-
Copps has a knee injury.
So many conspiracy theorists on here.

RA, I said it was my first thought, not that it was likely.
-
We're going to win today.
-
We're going to win today.
I feel that too.
-
Like James in midfield , a box to box player
-
Come on Donny :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid:
-
We do look very lightweight from an attacking perspective.
-
You redsssssss! Has to be a win today!
-
I know it's a nit pick in the grand scheme of things but I really wish they'd put team sheets together in order of position so you can more easily visualise the team as you scan down they list. Putting it in number order means absolutely nothing imo.
-
Wot, no dugout shelters..?
Perhaps some subs have been getting too cosy in there.
-
Reece James to score the first goal.
Come on Rovers!
-
Haha
-
Hahahahahaha
-
Great start.
-
FFS
-
90mins to get one back
-
Here we go again ....
-
Good god.
-
FFS! Groundhog day
-
Reece James to score the first goal.
Come on Rovers!
Or maybe not......
-
Normal service has been resumed... If you didn’t laugh you would cry
-
That will knock the confidence even further back.
-
Jesus wept.
-
What a joke we are.
-
Wot, no dugout shelters..?
Perhaps some subs have been getting too cosy in there.
Haven’t had any all season, and they won’t be coming back either.
-
Any other day that goes into row Z
-
Plenty of time to come back and win this.
It’s a test of character now.
-
Can they move the National up two hours and give us something worth watching to put on the tele.
-
I'm off to do some gardening. Effing joke!
-
Team was set up to draw or not concede well we failed again
-
Wot, no dugout shelters..?
Perhaps some subs have been getting too cosy in there.
Haven’t had any all season, and they won’t be coming back either.
Might as well give them the full stand next season. No one will be coming to watch this shower.
-
Don't even react to it when we go behind now just it's just expected
-
If it’s any consolation we’ve played our best football recently when we’ve been behind in a game!
COYR
-
If it’s any consolation we’ve played our best football recently when we’ve been behind in a game!
COYR
we've played the vast majority of our football when we've been behind, or at least it feels like it
-
We aren’t playing too bad actually ..... if we get an equaliser before half time we should win it...
-
We are always likely to concede another goal though.
-
That bit of play on the edge of the box wth Lokilo and Robertson is typical of where we are lacking - sometimes you have to take the chance that a gap will emerge and sometimes you have to make the space with a touch and a turn of pace.
-
Wigan again
-
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
0-2
-
Game and season over
-
Why are we so shit?
-
Statues in the box. Awful defending.
-
f**kING HELL!!!!!
-
We are always likely to concede another goal though.
As I was saying.
FFS, we are so poor at defending.
-
Oh dear. Joe Wright.
-
Come on Rovers. Im putting a quid on 3-2
-
No getting away from it ... we are sh*t
-
the turn around in form since January has got to be one of the most dramatic during a season in our history?
-
I’ll shut up !
-
Please walk Andy ... please
-
Are we going to get another point before the season ends? You have to doubt it at this rate.
-
Not a single game changer on that pitch in red and white
-
Surely he has to go if we lose today?
It's a joke. But this is what happens when you build a squad of short term contracts and loan signings who have no interest in playing for the club.
-
No worries lads, Butler will have a positive chat with them at half time.
-
1st attempt at goal again , i've lost count how many times we've done that in recent year's.
-
When did we stop knowing how to defend
COYR
-
Not a single game changer on that pitch in red and white
Disagree. There's several, mostly our own back line.
-
If we get another point this season it’ll be a surprise
-
well them 1 to 1 talks have certainly done the trick.
-
Sack him, he’s fathoms out of his depth
-
Well, this is a true test of the character of this team. Come on.
-
Wigan will get 4 or 5 today
-
the turn around in form since January has got to be one of the most dramatic during a season in our history?
Nearly as bad as Ferguson’s.
-
the turn around in form since January has got to be one of the most dramatic during a season in our history?
Feels like the season in the championship where we just collasped and barely managed to stay up. 1 win in 26 was it?
-

I’m sure if you try hard enough you can summon up even more negative stuff to share with us all.
I seriously wonder why some people bother watching DRFC as they quite clearly get no enjoyment out of it.
-

And he still wasn't sacked. So at least Butler knows his job is safe.
It's pathetic it really is.

He's to blame for Wright not clearing there?
-

I’d be surprised if we scored again this season

How is it pathetic? If Ferguson was sacked we wouldn't have rebuilt the squad with the likes of Marquis and Whiteman. Look past the end of your nose.

We should never have gone down in the first place.
I guess we should keep Butler in the same situation too?
-
I think we are losing because there isn’t a team in this league worse than us...
Don’t blame the manager at all......

To be fair we might have won L2 under a different manager instead of blowing the one horse race.

The players don't give a shit.
Most of them know they wont be here next season. But again, it all comes down to our transfer policy of short term contracts and loans. It isn't working.
-
The problem is there not even having to work for the goals far to easy
-
23 minutes we haven’t had a shot, how are we going to get owt without shots?
-
Not sure if it was the case on Monday but the good news is we're currently mathematically safe.

Yep, so both your assumptions and mine are guesses.
-
Not sure if it was the case on Monday but the good news is we're currently mathematically safe.
A major rethink from top to bottom is needed for next season.
Keep running playing side of the club the way we are and it's going to end in tears.
-
Wigan already time wasting, it’s going to be a long, long afternoon
COYR
-
“When you find players full of confidence it just comes naturally. Now I feel like the players are doubting themselves, for that pass, thinking about it too much and moving it on too slowly.
“That is something I’ve got to address.”
If that's it then so far it doesn't look like it's been addressed yet. This will have to be a big halftime talk.
Persistent poor defending suggests something more fundamental is going wrong than just doubts creeping in.

Can't you give it a rest, you're like a cracked record
-
And time wasting master class from them
Keeper taking 35 seconds per GK and managed one of 52 seconds as well
Ref doing nowt

They never do.
-
I’m sorry but Butts has to step aside now - completely the wrong call by the board. We ironically stopped one of best defenders this season being able to play too.
Love butts but he’s out of his depth and we need a manager in now so he can assess who he wants to keep for next season and start planning early doors the the summer transfer window.

We don't have a right to be critical because the owners keep the club afloat and we should applaud that regardless.

2 -0 down who thinks we keep the same formation for 90 mins ?

The owners are blind to the problems that everyone else can see.
How are they? They watch the same game as we do and are disappointed as we are as well.
So please explain how they are blind to the problems.
-
Wigan want it more. They are faster, stronger, more aggressive. We have no movement, no desire or urgency.
Cameron John is having a mare.
The co-commentator is absolutely bang on with his comments.
-
Everyone has that right Red but you and your cronies push it too far and too often. It just gets boring

Will they be scrapping the policy of short term permanent contract signings and an unhealthy number of loanees in the squad then?
-
Heads are down, theres just no urgency or determination from us. Players are getting the ball and then don't know what they're gonna do with it.
Wigan players are showing a lot more urgency, they're taking the ball off us and being quick and determined to make something happen.
-

You want another three years of this defence?
-
Game over
-
This is f**king w**k.
-
How f**king bad are we.
-
If he is still manager after tonight, it is criminal.
-
I would hope those who read my work know I'm generally quite positive about Rovers. But I can't find any reasons to be positive at the moment. We don't even look like a football team.
This is truly pathetic.
-
No excuse now Butts ... pack your bags please.
-
Loving the co commentator today, who is it? Bang on the money with how poor we are. John and Horton on that left side are absolutely shocking. We are so unbelievably shit it has now turned into a bit of a joke. I’m actually laughing at how bad we are and some people are still trying to defend this. Hahaha
-
f**king shit 3-0 down, not one shot for us, those one to one talks worked wonders didn’t they?
-
0-3
f**king embarrassing
-
Red army I agree with you , he needs to go the last 7/8 games have been shocking I don't mind losing but they have no fight in them at all
-
Got to walk. Don’t blame him 100% but if they ain’t playing for you why stay around to suffer this
-
No one showing space or putting a tackle in
-
Clearout required in the summer. Most of these "players" have to go.
-
This is now turning into an embarrassment. He has to go, absolutely has to. How anybody at that club if they are serious about our image can withstand another month of this is beyond me.
-
Wow. I’m stunned and bemused. And f**ked off. Rovers are showing nothing here. NOTHING.
3-0 down to a team fighting for survival and we look second best, no third best, all over the park.
This is the worst performance I’ve seen this century. Hate to say it but it is.
-
Absolute farce, I’m putting Liverpool Villa on.
-
He cant be in charge for any more games after this it's absolutely embarrassing. Get the manager in now for next season so they have a full pre season to prepare and hopefully a few games at end of this season to get a feel for it.
-
Butler isn't the man for the job but we won't suddenly turn into world beaters if he went. I wouldn't sack him but we need to get looking for a new manager yesterday, someone needs to be in before the end of this month and we need to be focusing on preparations for next season now.
-
Midfield is non existent ... I wonder when that scenario took root.
-
Every player's first thought when they get the ball is to turn away from goal. Sims, Smith, Robertson. They all do it. It's robbing us of any forward momentum.
-
Let’s not forget we are playing Wigan 23rd in for table and we have not had a look in , for f**k sake the board needs to start looking for a manager for next season and the fans need to unite and demand action
-
I want butler to succeed but for me he has to go now this is woeful and over the few weeks it’s got worse and worse
-
Could you imagine if we had fans in the ground
-
If it wasn’t for the fact we somehow won games up to the end of jan we would definitely be relegated. 100%
Thank god we managed to fluke some of those wins
-
Teams just smelling blood against us, they know how fragile we are.
Wigan gone at it from the off.
-
Wigan not scored in 6 hours until they played us.....
-
Not seen a single player put a foot into a challenge pulling out every time leave studs on a player and he won't be going in again
-
Could you imagine if we had fans in the ground
Not something we will have to worry about. Not many will be going back to watch this.
-
It's that bad i'm now watching Barnsley v Middleboro .
-
We'll have a new manager in place by the time this season finishes, so I doubt that AB will be walking away from this despite it being as poor as it gets.
-
Why is he leaving John on?
-
Serious question: can AB come back as a defender? I think we need him.
-
f**king pathetic. 3rd went off and turned it off now currently sat in silence with my old man.
No f**king bottle or fight. Give me a shout and I'll put my boots on.
What a f**king catastrophe.
-

I think you need to take a breather!

Bostock should have scored there.
-

If it isn't announced by Monday I think the club will struggle to attract any paying fans for our remaining games this season.
-

No he's been told he's got the job.
-

A serious question SM - and not a jibe - can the club see the transfer and contract policy it has adopted clearly isn't working?
-
We'll have a new manager in place by the time this season finishes, so I doubt that AB will be walking away from this despite it being as poor as it gets.
It needs to be sooner. The new manager needs to see these players themselves and they're attitudes currently. If we bring in someone once the dust has settled everyone will have a clean slate.
-

So does he already know he's out of a job?
No, just means he's been given permission to put this on here. (My opinion only)
-
I think SM can't justify what is happening with this team, neither can the manager. He may well be "one of our own" but in the end he is well out of his depth. It is unfair on him to keep on with this until the end of the season, there needs to be more direction and drive from a manager to get something out of this team. Who can do that I don't know, or who is available, but if there is no change soon there will be severe losses in terms of fans. If things had worked out for me I would have been fishing this afternoon, as it is I am going to watch the build up to the National and try to forget what is happening at the Keepmoat.
-
Bostock should have scored there.
Just seen replay, good shot to be fair, heading to bottom corner.
-
This is something more than 'the manager'. No matter how good or bad Andy Butler is, there is something else behind this. It is impossible that experienced and professional players, many of who are playing for their futures at whatever club they belong to, can play like this. Players may have systems and instructions that they don't like or don't agree with, but they generally do still put their foot in. These players are not. There is something unusual underlying this.

A shimmer of good news at least. Unless it’s Butler which would be weird

I've paid for it. I'm watching it. Right to the grim end.
-
3-1

Has he? He's got the job whilst the end of the season, no more than that.
-
Get in
-
To be fair.....we won’t be relegated,
but we will probably lose most if not all of the games yet to play and end up around 18th-19th,
which gives the new man at he helm something to try and better next year....
-
Yessssss! Come on!
-
Would Louis Jones have done any better with the goals we've conceded?
-
And the only player who can - does :aok:

I think we’re all for getting rid of a lot of the players (who clearly want out themselves) but we can’t before s transfer window so the manager is the one variable we can change
-
Well taken goal by TR
-
We'll have a new manager in place by the time this season finishes, so I doubt that AB will be walking away from this despite it being as poor as it gets.
We need a new manager in ASAP to have the most time to assess and plan.
-
Would Louis Jones have done any better with the goals we've conceded?
Not Balcombe's fault, so probably not.
-
Bostock should have scored there.
Just seen replay, good shot to be fair, heading to bottom corner.
I think it was going wide.
Good goal by Richards though.
-
I think SM can't justify what is happening with this team, neither can the manager.
How am I justifying what is happening with this team?
Where have I ever defended any of this?
-
Nothing more than a consolation
-
That has been embarrassing.
Apart from the goal of course.
-
An early goal for us... game on.
-
Would Louis Jones have done any better with the goals we've conceded?
Don’t think Balcombe was at fault for any of the goals, defending has been atrocious to say the least. Jones wouldn’t have stopped any of them

Not sure if it was the case on Monday but the good news is we're currently mathematically safe.
A major rethink from top to bottom is needed for next season.
Keep running playing side of the club the way we are and it's going to end in tears.
Why don’t you just bore off?
-
At least iFollow flood you with adverts at half time so we don't have to rewatch all Wigan's highlights.....
The players need to show some pride in this 2nd half, just like the Hull game. Same ht scoreline and we won the 2nd half 2-0. Are Wigan better than Hull? Are they f**k.
Come on Rovers. Roll those sleeves up and get into them! The season is now hanging by a thread. It's now or never.

This group have no fight in them
-
Tactically poor, mentally weak and drifting without control. No positives in that half. It wasn't the easiest job for Butler but it's just not working.
-
Some commotion at half time. One of their players grabbed and ushered off by his team mate. One of their coaches seemed to approach Lokilo who shrugged him off and then their keeper and one of their players were having a right pop at the referee.
-
It sounds like he has the job til the end of the season whatever happens.
At any other club in the country he'd be gone after today.
-
S M was it a guess when u said we will have a new manager in before the end of the season or have u been informed we are already looking as has butler also been informed?
-
We'll have a new manager in place by the time this season finishes, so I doubt that AB will be walking away from this despite it being as poor as it gets.
If it isn't announced by Monday I think the club will struggle to attract any paying fans for our remaining games this season.
Are you speaking for yourself?
The club can count on this paying fan because I’m a supporter.
-
The Wigan players seem more confident than us, stronger than us and faster than us.
I know confidence is a big thing but good grief, we just look like a team of boys against a good mans team.
-
Nothing more than a consolation
Come on, man...think a bit more positive! :)
-
can the club see the transfer and contract policy it has adopted clearly isn't working?
[/quote]
Well, it seemed to work fine up to December when we had the best points tally for many a year.
And the loans under McCann didn’t do too badly either.
So perhaps it’s more about man management, coping with injuries, managers leaving at a moment’s notice etc rather than a policy?
just my opinion on things.
-
It’s all about pride and determination and we’re not showing any!

I'm sure they do, Dave, but confidence is so obviously at rock bottom. 45 minutes of balls out attack like we saw us do earlier in the season and who knows? This game might not be over just yet.

It's all very well when things are going well, but then when the chips are down, those who know they won't be here next season or know they'll be back at their parent club, the effort will subside. They won't give a shit. We saw it with the players we had during "the experiment"
The McCann squad wasn't as reliant on loans and short term contracts as this one is, and had quality such as Whiteman and Marquis which we haven't come close to replacing.
-
Come on lads.
-
The main problem I’m seeing on the attacking side is we only score goals u usually see once a month during a season but not scoring all the other goals in between them , which I’m afraid comes from the management team not drilling players during training about patterns of play ect and how to individually affect the game

Wot, no dugout shelters..?
Perhaps some subs have been getting too cosy in there.
Haven’t had any all season, and they won’t be coming back either.
Might as well give them the full stand next season. No one will be coming to watch this shower.
I’m sure if you try hard enough you can summon up even more negative stuff to share with us all.
I seriously wonder why some people bother watching DRFC as they quite clearly get no enjoyment out of it.
What is there to enjoy exactly?
The owners are blind to the problems that everyone else can see.
How are they? They watch the same game as we do and are disappointed as we are as well.
So please explain how they are blind to the problems.
Well, if I were TB I'd be sacking a number of players after this and our other recent performances! It's one thing being disappointed, something else entirely doing something about it!
We need a complete overhaul!

I'm glad they can, but I can guarantee you that plenty won't be paying again after today. That's just a fact. There's people in this thread saying they've put the Liverpool and Barnsley games on or gone off to do some gardening.
I've paid over £500 watching games this season and I've sat through every second of every game. I'm seriously considering not doing it again until next season because I sit here fuming every Saturday at the moment wondering if it's worth it.
And yes, I'm still sat here hoping we can turn it around instead of going to the Asda as I've been asked to.
-

You need to re-read what I wrote.
It's not a guess either.

So you agree then, it’s about the management of what we have regardless of their contract status. It looks like that was fantastic up to XmAs or so, but since for some reason has been pants. And yes McCann wasn’t reliant as much but they were great loans the board got in, yes? They facilitated the requirements of both Mc Cann and Moore did they not.

Neil Harris was sat on the Sky Sofa earlier would be a good appointment for me or even approached to run this until end of the season

No there is a difference.
The squad we have now is primarily short term contracts and loan signings. It wasn't under McCann. It was similar last season. Then every summer, we have the same high churn of players. Zero stability.
You cannot achieve our target of promotion running a squad of players like that. The squad will always have half an eye on next season, looking at where they will be playing their trade when their current contract expires. They won't be fully invested in the cause.
A major rethink of the transfer policy is needed. Look at the clubs in the top six. Someone posted the top two clubs have four loan signings between them. How many do we have?
What we are doing is not working.

Before the end of the season? I don't think I said that.

Going to win 4-3
-
Richards scores yet last week he got loads of stick. If Butler picks a side and before halftime he takes off Horton who is a young lad but not league one standard puts James back we’re he should play. Brings on Bostock for Robertson his selection was wrong to start. But he has allowed supporters media to cloud his decisions
-
On a better note , Doncaster Knights have just won their first 5 league games in a row.
-
Well my point is it WAS working, and I can’t really believe that a squad that was flying high would effectively down tools half way through the season because their contracts were up at the end - surely by being successful they would be more likely to get renewals.
What needs looking at is why this squad has stopped performing on a day to day basis.
-

And when the going gets tough, that's when the investment in the cause comes into question, and is evident on current showings.

I've lumped on Mister Malarkey, Abbey has Burrow's Saint and Acapella Bourgeoise. Hoping one of them comes off!

You said “a new manager in place by the time this season finishes” which indicates they’ll be in place prior to the season finishing.
And does this confirm that AB won’t be in the running for it given you’ve said “A new manager” ?

Minella Times to win and Bristol de Mai e/w for me. I gave my 16 month old my phone to see what he landed on when scrolling up and down for his first grand national bet and he picked out Milan Native and takingrisks. Both E/W. Fingers crossed something comes in for us

4-1.
-
I give up, f**king walk Butler!
-
This is embarrassing!

Hands up. How many just laughed when Wigan scored their 4th rather than be pissed off? Guilty here. It has got that bad that it is just accepted now
-
I see it is! I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories but something appears to be rotten to the core.
-
So we're in a situation where nothing can be done about this until the end of the season?
I wonder what odds you can get on Rovers losing every game?
-
Butler out !!!
-
f**kssake Rovers. What’s up aren’t you getting paid anymore?

How depressing is this. After all the hope we had in January. This is just disastrous.

I laughed at the first and fourth Wigan goals, but got quite annoyed at the second and third.
A rollercoaster of emotions! Sort of.
-
I dread to think what score Peterbro are going to rack up against us.
-
Something's not right. I wonder if some players have had their heads turned by Moore at Wednesday...
-
We just look clueless. There’s no soul, no fight, no pattern.
-
I think Butler should do the decent thing and walk. The powers that be would then be pressed into appointing a replacement.

We've still got three games in hand over Hull :chair: :chair: :coat:

I still think they should try and see if Copps would do a caretaker job until the end of the season.

But at least they’ll have a full close season
-

Owls fans won't accept our rejects because not a single one is worth a contract for next season

We need a new manager, Momentum needs to change, we cannot carry this form or lack of it, till the end of the season and expect a good start to next. Need to turn in a few good results to get the confidence back for the start of next season
-
Hands up. How many just laughed when Wigan scored their 4th rather than be pissed off? Guilty here. It has got that bad that it is just accepted now
Yep. I'll admit I'm disappointed that it's not ended up 6/7-1 which it very well might have. The club need it smashing in their face how appallingly they have managed this.
-
I don't think I've ever seen so-called professional footballers all run to the ball like a bunch of 10-year-olds then all stop when it gets passed through them. I'll say again, what is going on?
-
No fight, no desire and no pride in the performance, they’ve given up, no doubt about it
-
To be honest I am speechless after that.
We have disintegrated in a way i thought was not possible.
-
The biggest problem is we are missing Butler at CB. We don't have a leader.
-
Found one thing very noticeable bogle hardly mentioned by the commentator thought he wasn’t playing.what use was Gomes when he came on. Wigan players like teams before them looked in a different class.
-
The biggest problem is we are missing Butler at CB. We don't have a leader.
Shouldnt Anderson as captain be the leader on the pitch,no evidence of that at the moment.
-
I think our down turn in performance can be traced back to the West Ham game. We’ve been poor, even in the 2 wins, since then. If I remember rightly we had the same thing happen after the league cup run and defeat to Arsenal under DP.
Time for a change, AB to return as CB would be the first thing I’d change along with starting Feji as Omar is bringing nothing to the attacking line up at the moment.
