Yes. We certainly lost 5-1 at home to Crystal Palace about 1960-61 when the air show was on.
I remember walking down Hyde Park from Balby a few times with loads of cars queueing on their way to Finningley.

In those days all of the traffic from the Sheffield/Rotherham side came down Balby Rd. They then took a right at the T junction where the flyover starts now and round past the front door of the Vine. They even had a Bobby on point duty there to ease traffic.

Can just remember pre flyover days being a Balby lad
Can also remember although not related to OP there seemed to be regular vintage car processions down Balby Rd, and the Queen going down there during Jubilee year

We lived in Cantley and I remember late 60's and early 70's the cars still back up after 10pm trying to get away from The Battle of Britain. We used to go every year. It was a big thing.
Remember coming home one year after the show all packed into my uncle Nevs Riley Elf. They'd send you down the perimeter track towards Bawtry to get out at the end of the runway. Some of the planes would leave same evening after the flying ended.
We were half way down the runway perimeter and 2 lightnings took off to go home. Full afterburners the lot must have been 200ft to the side of us. Absolutely tremendous stuff. Pulled straight up after the clearing the fence and went vertical. Riley Elf nearly took off with em.
