KEN MAGSON RIP
« on September 15, 2017, 02:52:58 pm by acko »
It is with deep sadness that i report the passing of my deepest freind and most devouted of rovers supporters.Ken along with wife Jill were regular travellers on supporters buses till his illness took hold.He was a founder member of the northen branch of which he played a part in forming,His devoution to the rovers goes back over 50years.Even tho he new he would never be well enough to attend he still purchased his season ticket for this season.Rovers have lost a devouted supporter.

Very sad news known Ken for 30 years or more, he travelled on Paul's Retford coach for many years particularly with Ginner and Jacko - I looked up to Ken as he was older than myself and a true Rovers fan.

My favourite memory of Ken was he appeared in court after being arrested at Scarborough circa 1887/88 and he represented himself - he took the arresting copper apart because he never made an accurate report of the circumstances of his arrest. Ken was brilliantly stubborn and the judge threw out the case against him and the police officer received a reprimand

I didn't know Ken all that well but I often spoke to him about Rovers in the Scawthorpe club on Saturday nights.

The last time I saw him was in the Rovers bar before the last home game last season. I thought he looked particularly unwell back then.

God bless him.

Very sad news. I know the name but can't put a face to it. I've said before that a photo of the person on more fans would probably know exactly who we were talking about.
It's hard to replace fans as dedicated as these.

I must have known him by sight. I've been on Paul's bus enough times over the years.

Recognise him from the description given about the badges on the hat. What a shame, thoughts to friends and family.

He was a fixture when I travelled regularly on Paul's coach in the early 90s.  Always good fun but was easy to wind up.  Nice bloke.

He had the right hump on the other year when the VSC AGM over-ran and he couldn't sit  in his regular spot in the BVB at 12 noon on the dot. lol.

RIP Ken.

Some fond memories of Ken and Ginner and the antics on the Retford coach away days. The stories they could tell... Ken always had a good word and a joke, a true character. First in the pub and last out... and a few lost weekends along the way.

Rest In Peace Ken.

I read this last week and couldn't put a face to a name so I was really sad on Sunday when I finally twigged who it was...To our group Ken will always be known as Cammies dad...This is a nickname we game him going back to the days were our group used to stand next to him every week on the popside at Belle Vue..Andy Campbell used to play for us and on the whole was a bit of a donkey and while we were berating his efforts,Ken would defend him to the hilt as a good player...Always good for a wind up back and forth was Ken and a great character..Rovers through and through bless him...A sad loss...
