Time to say thanks but goodbye and work out a deal to pay up contract
Nothing against him but has become injury prone

While Ferguson is up there, a young prospect or two to bring on trial, wouldn't hurt!.

Does Keegan sleep on rocks or in a wet cave or something? He's never bloody fully fit is he?

I don't get this. If we pay up his contract then we're no better off financially than we would be paying him in weekly instalments (in fact given the hit to cash flow we're probably a little worse off). So it costs us the same to pay a player off as it does to keep him. If we keep him and he does get fit then we've got the benefit of having him available. If we keep him and he never gets fit it costs us no more than paying him off anyway.

Is it a 100% pay out though?

I assume it would be a negotiation, based on the fact that he can go and earn another contract somewhere else.

Agree though id rather have a player than pay the same to not have a player!

And if we do get him fit he will probably do a decent job at this level.

We'll probably end up paying off Dany "Mr Toe" N'Guessan though.

And if he doesn't we get someone on loan and pay twice

If he doesn't what? Get fit?

But we'd still be paying twice anyway. One lump to pay off his wages and another lump for the loan/replacement player's wages. I don't get it.

Matty's scenario above makes a bit more sense but it's hard to envisage someone set to earn (e.g.) £52k in a year saying: ok, I'll take 30 grand and hope to get another contract on the same money elsewhere sharpish so I can still pay my mortgage come December.

Mike I think you're missing a bit in the original message - "work out a deal". Not pay him off in full, and I don't think roversdude is suggesting this.

If there are issues with Keegan's fitness, though, then he'd be mad to accept a payoff. It's only likely that a player would agree to a payoff if they're not in the club's plans and have another club lined up.

Our problem is that we rely on him too much. We need to call a spade a spade and see him as a bit part player and not a linchpin. He is 50-60pc games a season man not 80-90pc. We can't build team around that. Slot him in when he is fit as he is a good player at this level but for god's sake don't make him the fulcrum of the side.

I just had a look on the DROS.
There is an article by Andy Butler about his thoughts for the pre season training etc.
The accompanying photo show Andy kicking with his right foot, trying to improve his right foot skills maybe.
In the same photo Andy Williams appears to be trying to improve his falling down technique to gain us more free kicks.

Really hope he is spending this training camp explaining how to play four at back and ditching this ludicrous 5/3 arrangement that is about as well thought out as the post-Brexit environment.

In lots of his interviews so far he's talked about spending a lot of time doing shape work which sounds to me like we're playing 3-5-2 again

Ferguson was at Albion Rivers vs Falkirk today and apparently left as soon as Craig Sibald went off.

Hopefully, that is another reason we went to Scotland. We are definitely short of another good midfielder.

Just been given a little more info from the guy who told me that. I'll post it in the other section, though.

A highly regarded prospect Sibald, the hair problem has cost him a lot of confidence, as it would at that age, so he's shaved it off.
Back to his football ability, he could be interesting, bring Jason Cummings back as well, that would be even better!.

It appears its not Sibald we're after, Sammy - see Rumours.
