Title: Defence
Post by: Paul Simpson on August 20, 2017, 08:42:14 pm
Well done Andy and Joe! I was there Saturday with the Simpson clan and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. We felt from our view that the midfield attacked well but didn't help with defensive duties. Nowt wrong with Butler and Joe is doing very well imo. Good start to the campaign boys!! Get behind our team!! 😀👍⚽️

You don't at the moment. Baudry will need to earn his place. Suspensions or injuries will no doubt give him a chance

That's a difficult one? Would be a shame to put joe back on the bench after his quality start ,  similar to last season when he was called upon and didn't set a foot wrong imo.  Coyr !! I certainly wouldn't drop Butler, he's absolute quality imo ⚽️

What's this? Ferguson underestimating the length of a layoff? surely not...

No the surgeon has told him that it's not healing as quick as expected, unless DF has a crystal ball he relies on the medical personnel

So BB, what does the ball say, given that Baudry will be a while longer on the treatment table, will we need another CB?

Have a look mate and let us know please.

Has the ball been right with a result let alone a score line this season? Maybe time you join DF in looking for a new one!

With Wright and Butler doing alright in the central defence the question is why should we try for another centre back. But at the moment according to surgeons and medical team Baudry and McCullough will not be ready until end of September. Then they have got to resume training so it could be into October before they can play.

Therefore if either Butler or Wright are injured or suspended in the next 5/6 weeks we are left with Alcock or Garrett as their replacements. Plus there is no guarantee that Baudry and McCullough will not break down again.

I know DF has said no more players but it's a risk that should be managed.
Short term deal for a out of contract player up till the next transfer window would be beneficial for us and the player, so I hope we are still keeping our options open.

This.

It can be done outside of the window, and I hope we have tags on a couple of options.

I appreciate that, so we don't have to do it now, but it would be beneficial to cover the risk.
