Apologies if i've missed it but do we know where the announcements yesterday leave any potential deal with Wellens? I can't seem to see any mention of it from the vaious announcements yesterday. Is he still training with us?

It was asked at the meeting last night and I think JR mentioned he is still training but has not signed yet. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though?

I was originally told that the Wellens deal was NOT dependednt on the outcome of investment talks but thinking realistically I just cant see us being able to do that deal now, which is a big shame I think, especially with MDVF being out for the coming months.

But I trust in the big boys to be making the right decisons for our long term health so I'll learn to live with that one. Just hope he doesnt go to the Dingles or Wendies thats all!!!!

The question is, would wellens do a sharp and agree a deal so he gets to play football over money

I think the answer depends on what other offers he's got on the table

Wellens negotiated with Leicester .. Billy would have to do the same with Saints as he has a two year contract running .

I personally feel that no investment will scupper this deal. I have no doubts that there are a few clubs chasing him and his wages could possibly be just out of our reach. I also believe that if we are going to stregthen, midfield wouldn't be the area that i personally would look too. I think a striker and another defender is required and its very hard to say thatas Wellens for me was utter class during his spell here and is easily in my top 5 players ever to have played for Doncaster.

Wellens could have a few shekels in his pocket from his Leicester pay off though, which would allow him to take a lesser paid contract at a northern town club who play in red and white hoops and still be quids in.  All speculation like, but stranger things have happened.

True, I think we will see Furman a bit deeper too to be honest being a work horse. can see us definitly having a holding player with that formation, someone to protect the back 4.
