That was a nailed on penalty for Maxwell, wasn’t it? Looked clear as day.

I thought so, leg dangled by their defender, he looked sheepish.

I know Joe plays a lot for fouls and they are sometimes a bit contrived but this guy gave him absolutely nothing today. Literally nothing.

Looked a penalty. The ref was decent up until the red card then he lost it a bit. Didn’t give the penno but gave a really soft free kick to them 30 seconds later when the lad who scored their fee kick just threw himself to the ground.

Too much emphasis put on penalties. If it’s a foul it’s a foul. Doesn’t matter whether it’s in the box or not.

It looked so clear that I thought maybe I missed something. It was a clear trip and Maxwell wasn’t even looking for a trailing leg. He just got fouled. Couldn’t have been any clearer. Cheated yet again.

As Robbie Andrews said ( quite rightly ) why would he go down there after beating 2 men and about to shoot from 6 ish yards out ?

May have been summarised not RA ( can't remember )

Looked like Maxwell looked for it from where i was sat. I was quite far from it thought however, the ref today was shockingly poor.

Blatant
No question he was caught by a leg just about to shoot. Awful decision

Maxwell was screaming for a penalty after the handball 5 minutes earlier that was outside the box. I wonder if his eagerness for a spot-kick then swayed the ref later

Looked stonewall to me, Gills would of been dismayed to have had that one refused.

Ref got progressively worse as more importance was unleashed on the match.

If they were giving out points for expressive and over the top body gestures this fella would be tops.

Typical yank.

McCann as a man with two working eyes in his head, agrees:

“The sending-off is a big changer in the game. It was a decision Timmy made and he's put his hands up. But then I thought there was a stonewall penalty we should have had on James Maxwell. Fortunately, it didn't cost us."

It would’ve been bigger than just a penalty, Andrew’s already on a yellow, and very lucky at that, would’ve/should’ve  been sent off if that was given ( I am sure it was his challenge?) But we are beginning to look tired in areas, so that is the worry - time for a short holiday in the sun as a team building activity? Or is the next game on this Tuesday?

I thought ref was decent first half, got several right that many ref's often get wrong at this level, then seem to change in 2nd half and often become bias towards Gills'
I have not seen a replay of penalty shout yet,at the time it looked certain penalty, even though Maxwell probably looked for it,it was still a pen,and the Gills commentator said in a split second,OH penalty!

Assumed we had been cheated, and turns out we have been. No surprise, but that little t**t has denied the 1800 there from probably witnessing a piece of history that will likely not come around again in our lifetimes. What a cheating get.

Not seen any highlights yet but for me it looked as thought it was a pen.
I thought the ref had a good game up to the red card, trying to let the game flow and equally fair to both teams.
After the sending off he turned into a homer for a while.
Overall it was another top performance by us and we got that deserved fifth place.
Someone mentioned earlier that it might not be a bad thing that we couldn’t keep the runs of wins going as it might lift a bit of pressure off the team and I agree with that.
As we always say, Rovers never do it the easy way but we wouldn’t want it any other way ……… would we?

We're owed one so by rights the refs union will give us something when we need it in one of the next three matches.

Well that Twitter clip shows that we were denied an obvious pen.
Thanks for posting that clip Filo.

Right behind on line of sight and he'd gone round the 2 defenders and got touched. He played for it but he was brought down. Ref was a bit of a performer today and got stuff wrong for both sides.

Hey ho,
More to the piont I love it when Maxwell decides he wants to be Johan Cruyf, what a player. Jinking left jinking right.
Oh! And That burst of pace v Colchester for our 4th was ridiculous too.

It was a brilliant run. He should have shot split second earlier and probably scored a goal that would've topped Moly's  but he was brought down so Joe should have then been given chance to put us 2-3 up with the pen.
Didn't turn out too bad though eh..
Anybody in that street leaving ground and that nipper on shoulders holding the flare. Was like summit from a pre Health & safety era!
