As mentioned in another thread, we should vote on a best Rovers 11. Since 2000?
Anyway I can start it off, if I miss someone apologies. Not going to list them all, just 10 most likely to be voted
-
Andy Rhodes for me I know he's not on the list
-
Denis Peacock and Willie Boyd should be on there
-
Tried to start it more recently, but even then hard to compare a conference cult hero to a championship player
-
Good effort though.
Some of us remember Easy for Dennis through to BFG and beyond
-
How is Gary woods on that list
-
Think Sam Johnson should be on 2 lists as he wasn't the same second time around
-
Kim B, Dennis and quite liked Andy Beasley
-
Harry Gregg
Ken Hardwick
Gregg voted best in the world cup1958,Hardwick picked for England u23s when they realised he was over 30 yrs old and recinded it,and was stopped from traveling to the game.
-
Sorry, for some reason all of the thread name did not appear on the first viewing.
-
WILLIE NIMMO.
-
Harry Gregg should be on the list.
However, i am glad i didnt put the list up because people (like me) will say other players should be on the list.
Of those that are on the list, Neil Sullivan for me.
-
Sulli in recent times for me, I liked Paul Crichton a lot too, wish I could've seen gregg play - way before my time!
My initial Gk hero was Dennis Peacock!
-
Sullivan for me. What a signing he was... and what a performance he put in at Wembley.
-
Did no one read the OP? It says "since 2000". Give him a break, I think it's an interesting (selection of) polls and although this one is an obvious choice, I'm interested to see the outcome of others.
Potentially could do a Rovers Best XI through the years, ie once the XI for 2000 onwards is picked, do one for 1980 - 1999, then 1960 - 1979 etc...
-
A forlorn cry to consider Harry Gregg .. our best ever in my view and later a BUSBY signing for MAN U
-
A forlorn cry for people to read the OP before replying!

Actually Nick, it says "since 2000?".
With a question mark.

Harry Gregg

My Dad worked with Ken Hardwick at Rosso pit (along with Brian Makepeace and Jackie Teasdale) and he said it totally demoralised Ken when his international call up was cancelled.
I use to watch Harry Gregg in the Reserves and once in a first team match against Leeds saw him bounce the ball on the head of a tiny Leeds player (Major?).

Again, this is before 2000, but a keeper who very rarely gets mentioned and rarely put a foot wrong us Andy Beasley, if anyone went to Shrewsbury for the cup game which was 0-0 around 1990??, I think that was one of the finest goalkeeping displays I have ever seen.
-
Agreed Hamilton
-
Is there anything at all to be said for Blayney?
-
Sulli is a legend, no competition.
-

No
-
Dennis Peacock, Willie Boyd,Andy Beasley, Paul Crighton,
-
Andy rhodes by a mile
-
Andy Rhodes. Dennis was a character but Rhodes was better I think. I'm too young to remember Harry Gregg. Steve Humphries was a decent keeper that hasn't been mentioned, stood in well for Willie Boyd.
-
Denis peacock should be on the list and ffs Gary Woods worst keeper ever
-
20 years too early Peacock, anyway clear winner
-
The Flying Pig - I give you John Ogston
-
I think I've seen all the keepers mentioned bar Hardwick, Gregg and Nimmo.
For me, Sulli wins it. If he wasn't a legend before Brentford he was then for getting into Trotta's head.
Followed by Andy Warrington and Andy Rhodes.
-
Can't believe Turnbull has so few votes. I thought he was quality.
-
Since 2000 sulli hands down for me!
-
The thread is since yr 2000 Sullivan wind hands down for me.
Pre 2000 then it must be Harry Gregg as he was good enough to be a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper when he went to Man Utd.
He was before my time but I did see him play for Man Utd in the early 60's and he was a top keeper.
-
Hell A17745 I thought Crichton was awful.
Agree with others though that Big Dennis should be on there. Possibly Harry Gregg is before many of us can recall.
-
Lol! Funny how people's views alter - I know people who think samways was ace!
