No better than steady in League One, never a Champoinship player. Surely not preparing for the third tier already?

He's been our worst player by a mile this season for me. Poor defending and never finds a man when in possession. He gives it the percentage hoof up the line every time.

We have been spoilt in recent years by having very good attacking right backs - JOC, Simon Marples etc

Quinn certainly isn't and suffers in comparison as a result. However I do think he is an excellent defender and has got better as the season has gone on.  I believe we would miss him more than most think.

This will just be his agent putting his name out there to try and get him a move.

Surely out of respect/politeness/doing things the right way/good house-keeping etc etc the mods should move this thread to the Rumour Mill...

You know LJ your supercilious attitude is getting right up my nose!

If you're so concerned then pay your money, join the VSC, apply to be a director, give up all your free time and then you too can be attacked whenever people feel the need.

Jeez!!

Sky Sports understands that Quinn has a clause in his contract which allows him to move for free during January.

I've heard similar, he's not the only one with said clause as well. Nervous January for Rovers fans methinks  :chair:

Why the hell do we have players with clauses like this in the contracts?

Sometimes its the only way to get them to sign in the first place. Particularly if times were tight in summer and we had to offer clauses to make a wage seem more attractive. We were also up against it from a time perspective in summer so again, it may have been something we had to offer to get deals pushed through quickly.

My main worry is Cotterill. Last time I heard he had a clause in his contract letting him talk to any clubs Championship and above. No idea about fee though.

I don't think that's true. I remember this being mentioned when we signed him but not about any others. Don't expect to see an exodus from the Keepmoat, don't forget those promotion bonus's can be very handy!

Yes I do.

The squad will stick it out for the rest of the season.

If Quinn goes, then he goes. Very average player for me. Has been better of late, but would be no great loss.

I think he only signed for us with that clause in his contract.

He didn't want to sign for us in the first place, so I suppose he might be wanting to jump ship. He's been steady this season, been a part of an excellent defence that can't be ignored

Fortunately, he'll have to pay if he decides Tommy fits the bill, same goes for Husband. Hopefully he'll look elsewhere though.

I was referring to the rest of the squad not Quinn. I did know about his release clause and given the extra salary I'm sure he'll jump at the chance if offered, but I do believe the rest will stay.

Maybe we should put him in touch with Chimbonda, he's still looking for a club.

Ridiculous to even consider putting a clause such as this in any players contract, regardless of the situation you are in. Its all one sided in the players favour, should have just been on a week to week contract if he wanted that escape clause.  That way had he got injured, we wouldn't have still been paying him.

Can see why we were so keen to get Griffin secured to a deal now.

If its the difference between the player signing and not signing, i can see why we agreed. It's not as though we paid a fee for him.

If he is the only one then all well and good - to be fair we can afford to lose him - Can't say that about some of the others :rtid:
