Forum Announcement
« on July 21, 2010, 08:00:01 pm by RobTheRover »
The forum will soon be moving to a new host.  Currently, we are hosted in America and this has presented certain issues over the past year.  We feel a move back to servers in the UK will be beneficial in terms of forum speed, availability and support.

The move will take place sometime in the next week to 10 days.  We will endeavour to keep you posted with more specific details closer to the time of transfer, as there will be an unavoidable period of downtime.

Cheers

RTR

I'm also hoping that you wont be pruning all the old threads as a result of the move!

No, the database will be moved intact. No threads will be lost.

After an extensive review of UK-based hosts, it looks like the new host will most likely be UK2.

The forum has now been moved to the new host.

We may experience one or two issues whilst the new host optimises their servers to handle our sites load profile, so please bear with these until they settle down over the coming days.

Thanks for your patience everyone.

This reminds me.

On the links page could you please remove the 'Viva Rovers' link as it goes to the Rivals site thats long been defunct and rename the 'Viva Rovers (New Site)' as simply Viva Rovers please?

Sorry, been meaning to ask that for ages

Also, how come the 2010/11 Fixtures aren't up? ;)

So, how does the site feel for everyone?  Anyone with problems?  Lag?

It may take a while for some ISPs to update their DNS records to the new address in the background, so if its not working for you, say, at home, but it works from work, give it a day or two for the crap ISPs to catch up.

Anyone else on Virgin but connecting OK?

I'm convinced this is a DNS problem, but its either Virgin's problem or a local one.

Carl, open a CMD window and type ping http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk

The server should be pinged, and it will tell you the IP address from the DNS - should be 77.92.79.11.

Just to double check, on your phone go to http://network-tools.com/, select the PING option, and add www.drfc-vsc.co.uk into the box.  Again it should return 77.92.79.11.

If either of these come back differently, raise a call with your ISP to refresh their DNS list.

I was just speaking with Danum Dave and his just came good too.  I suspect both your ISPs use the same DNS service, and it has just been updated.

To show who has subscriped for 2010/2011. That way we know who needs to renew and also puts a bit of \"pressure\" on them without the need of being prompted.
