Football Pundits
« on April 01, 2024, 05:31:09 pm by Butchers Red »
Is it just me ??

Does anyone else get increasingly fed up with them bas**rdizing the English language ??

Since when was "Strike " pronounced "Shtrike "" ??

And when did "Three" points become "Tree" points ??

 :crying: :crying:

Actually no - I'm not having a pop at the Irish - it's usually English commentators and predominantly female.

Way back when we used to complain about Jimmy Hill. But Jim was a true trailblazer. Player, Union rep, manager, Chairman. Saw off the maximum wage, introduced 3 points for a win. We used to think he talked b*llocks but now we have Farrah Williams who’s only achievement is that she ticks a box.

I like listening to talk sport but it really grinds my gears when Darren Bent says axed instead of asked! Talking like he is in some sort of London street crew.

When listening to the England v Belgium game the other night one of the female pundits kept referring to Bellingham as Bellanum.

when we go to war with Italy in the Euros the  Italian commentator will probably call him "Bellum gerere"  :coat:

Is this the worst thread since that one that tried to get people to rank their favourite black players at the club? Quite possibly.

It feels like there is too much football punditry nowadays. And most of it is unnecessary.

Farrah Williams MBE has almost 200 England caps. Quite a few achievements there.

The best summariser of football I used to listen to and highly admire was Jimmy Armfield. The point being they no longer pick the best candidate due to their knowledge and experience it’s all about being virtue signallers by getting a minority on and you end up with diluting the quality of output because you’re only selecting people from a smaller cohort. It’s a mathematical impossibility to get better results from that.

wasn't there a premier league poll last season to vote for your favourite black player?  Now just imagine for one second if that was the other way round..

Is it not the way the language and grammar everywhere has deteriorated since spelling and standard spoken English has been cast aside via a form of political correctness? Political correctness trumps all other forms of correctness. Even BBC journalists frequently make grammatical and spelling mistakes which are missed by editors (assuming they still have them).

The more games that are broadcast, the more pundits there will be....

I preferred the days when our commentators could call foreigners out for the cheats they were, and where white middle aged commentators would just go and pull somebody off in a gay cinema rather than force all their woke virtue signalling on us.
