Lets talk about the Charlton game
« on October 12, 2017, 02:05:35 pm by selby »
On paper a very hard game, especially if it rains as it becomes doubly hard.I would stick with the same team as last week, who I think may have turned a corner for us as far as form and being more physical in mid field are concerned.
Taking the chances when they present themselves will be key,Alfie and John have to up their percentage in front of goal, although better delivery from the wide positions would help them.
Rodney coming back gives us more options,as does Baudry nearing fitness, and Mandeville showing that he is getting back to form, but although I am an admirer of all three,I would start with the same side as last week.
If it is dry, lets hope we win the game,if it rains hard and we are losing, it would be interesting to watch what kind of effort their ground staff made of clearing any surface water.
   What are your thoughts?

The weather forecast is good, at least!

We can win this, if we are on our game.

As you say selby, a tough game for us.
Right now i would be very happy to come away with a point which would be a good outcome.
After a dozen games ( a quarter of the season) the league table is a decent indicator of each teams standing in the division and Charlton are obviously one of the better sides in it.

Potentially a bench on Saturday of Marosi, Baudry, Blair, Garrett, Kongolo, Mandeville and Ben Khemis. Looks very strong with a few game-changing options there.

It’s whether DF uses Baudry yet or Tuesday so Alcock may still be there on Saturday.

Do we know why Marosi was missing last weekend, and if he is fit. Was he ill?

Who ever plays at full backs, either side with have to be on their game as Josh Magennis likes to play wide and then cut in . Also he's got a very productive long throw

I'm confident we'll play well and put in another good performance but it's been Jekyll and Hyde throughout the season results wise.

Hopefully the boys can use last week's result as a springboard to kick on and move up the table.

I hope nobody throws the toys out the pram if the result doesn't go our way though as, on paper, it's probably our most difficult fixture this month.

All things considered, the abandonment in that game was the right decision, it was just handled badly..

I can't see this being an issue tomorrow.  We can win this.,.

Basically, always assume it will be unless specifically stated otherwise. Because our games very rarely are not.

You can pay on the day, but the price rises by £3.

Worth phoning the Ticket office before 2pm when they go off sale and arranging to collect at Charlton.

Yeah, as long as Marosi isn't the game-changer..!

I understood he had a shoulder injury which he picked up in the Checkatrade game against Sunderland. Although it was odd that he was initially named on the bench.

They also made absolutely no effort to clear the pitch, from memory. I'm sure some of our players grabbed the forks etc to try and get the pitch playable.

Today they had Six groundsmen forking a perfect pitch at half time, must have set a lot of groundsmen on in the last few years.

Same mistakes in both penalty areas, sloppy play down our right side, give the ball away, get run inside a shot on the run goal. A repeat of a number of goals we have seen this season. At the other end two players in the centre of the goal five yards out,Rowe mishits it and the goalkeeper bends down and picks the ball up,exactly the same as Alfies miss against  Shrewsbury, missed a chance from five yards because of a lack of composure,no other league  team will repeat the same mistakes week after week like us.
