Only if it's in the contract. If the club's learned anything then hopefully no.

At the moment only 8 of them might - the rest have completely new contracts to sort out - with us or with somebody else

I think all players should get the same basic salary & the rest should be made up of performance/appearance based bonuses and other incentives.

That would rather ignore the law of supply and demand Andy!

I know what your saying Bob and im kinda thinking out load but if the bonuses to do well were more generous than a set wage , perhaps we could attract some young hungry players with a bit of self belief, rather than some championship journeyman who doesn't care if we win or lose as long as he's getting paid. I'm not against any1 getting paid well as long as they earn it

It's a nice idea Andy - and it would be brill if we could do it. But I'm not sure a decent striker, say, would be willing to come to DRFC for what would be a small basic wage and the potential for a lot of bonuses. Would Billy Sharp have come? What would he have lived on if he had done his cruciate and been out for 9 months? The trouble is, an awful lot of decent players, whether they're young and hungry or not, have got choices about where they go. So you have to find something (anything!) to convince them to come to you. It's not always money, but it often is.... And it's probably true that not all players do have such choices. I don't know the stats. Could we build a decent team out of such players?

Cheers
