Midfielder, 26 signs from Mansfield. 2 year deal
-
Presume we paid a fee?
-
Sounds like he was out of contract. Rigo should be able to mark our card on him.
-
Contract expired by looks of it and opted to sign for us.
Won promotion with Fleetwood in the past.
Dont really no much more about him?..
-
Easy chant anyway!
-
Off their forum;
"Two year deal just been announced on their website.... apparently the manager was at the county game, must of impressed. Not sure what to think"
"Confirmed, Talk of them having a 4.5mil budget next season."
-
4.5 million budget! Haha. No where near.
-
Was class as York were promoted back into the league at Wembley a few years ago.. was a real prospect in the conference.. found league goals and football harder since though part of the Fleetwood side that won the league two play offs a few years ago.. quick and direct..
-
Spoke to a lad at work who is a season ticket holder there. Says he played out wide mainly for them and is quick and can chip in with a few goals. Says hes decent for league 2 and was one of there better players last season.
-
He was out for nine months with a knee ligament injury. Let's hope he's fully fit again. Versatile player, direct and pacey apparently.
-
Hopefully he can persuade Tafazolli to join him. Fergie was watching him too.
-
Is he creative? Get many assists?
-
Good to see Fergie addressing our defensive frailties!!!!

Good to see Fergie addressing our defensive frailties!!!!
Should we not sign any players until the defence is sorted or shall we go about strengthening all areas as quick as possible? We've probably approached a few defenders and they've just not agreed yet, be patient.
-
Tasty sis in law ( Holly Matthews ). Byker grove, waterloo road, The Bill, and can sing a bit too. Not that i think she will attend games, as it a sis in law as opposed to girl friend/wife.
-
Having a look he sounds like a quality League Two winger but probably won't make the step up to League One if we were to go back up.

Reminds me of a description of a mishit drive in golf which runs 200 yards down the fairway.
Known as a "sister in law".
You are up there but you shouldn't be.

Let's not sign anyone then
We need more than just defenders
-
We've signed two more players than near enough every club in the league at this point.
-
4.5 mill budget?
Makes sense use the budget wisely, get a solid player on a free. Spend the rest on the defence.
-
Don't know much about him but is he right or left sided?
Signing players of the right age.
-
£4.5m wage budget will be near the mark I would've thought - I wouldn't imagine that'd be exclusively player budget by any stretch tho!
-
Its Mansfield budget not DRFC i think. As its from their forum.
-
Mansfields wont even be half that.
-
It is us. The comment is
"Confirmed, Talk of them having a 4.5mil budget next season"
We don't lose much income next season so we'll be similar to last season which was about 4.5 mil.
-

It's what they think we have for our budget.
A lot of comments about him being an average player with no end product to. Also a few saying they thought he would stay as the have been paying him while he's been out injured. 1 comment did make me laugh when they said decent wingers are available and they mentioned Jamal Campbell-Ryce though
-
Everyone's rubbish when they leave tho' especially if they leave your club!
-
..we've been locked out of the other thread for some reason. Good signing?
Certainly some promising signs from Youtube clips, some Mansfield fans saying its a loss, so he looks a half decent signing.
Shit off a shovel from the clips I've seen. The white Dumbuya.
-
I'm really happy with this signing. Don't know much about him but we've been lacking proper pacey wingers for quite some time now. Showing real intentions of pushing for promotion though by signing 2 players already.
-
We've clearly seen the same clip. Great delivery considering the speed he's going too.
-
I hear his mum, Linda, used to be a proper head-turner!!
-
Good to see Fergie addressing our defensive frailties!!!!
Sign players and get shot down as its not in a certain area.... Don't sign players and get shot down for not acting fast! Just can't win our club! We've some seriously fickle fans!
-
Four things...
1) It's a good signing. Blairy is a creative, attacking player with plenty to offer.
2) Blairy is a top lad and he'll be very popular around the club.
3) Ryan Tafazolli is far too good to be plodding along in this league for another year.
4) No club in League Two will have a £4.5M playing budget next season. Halve that figure and you might get a very top end budget.
I shall not be indulging in any of this 'Blairy' shenanigans. He will henceforth be known, by me, as Lionel.
-
5. Rigoglioso likes Blairy and he's Blairy's mate, and that's why he calls him Blairy.

What about Tony or Linda? Or how about some outside the box thinking...Grizzly? Yogi? Camem?

The wage bill for Portsmouth FC in 2015 was £5.1m.

Does that make us The Blair Blair Bunch?

On a serious note, it all sounds encouraging. Not so much a marquee signing but a player that knows the league and will be hungry to do well. Hopefully a positive addition to the squad and to the team.

He's that quick, he's Matty Blur.

There's something about Blairy
-
Great one, Jon, especially with his little tufty quiff.

Lionel, Linda or Isla, fine, but it'd be a bit harsh to name him after a war criminal (alleged).
-
Blairy, Blairy, quite pretty scary
Which way will he go?
With a magic cross, and a decent shot
He might even score a goal.

That was the "easy chant" I had in mind.

The year York got promoted in 2011-12, he scored two winners at Wembley in a week at the FA Trophy final and then a week later the play off final. He scored crucial semi final goals too, and I think for a winger he scored 19 goals or around that in all competitions that season. I really expected him to go on to much bigger and better things at the time, being about 22, but it hasn't happened for one reason or another, though he did score a crucial league two play off semi final winner against York for Fleetwood a couple of years later. Very fast and direct. If we can get him playing to his potential at York he could prove a shrewd signing.
He earned me a few quid over the two final games at Wembley for York so will be looking to him earning me a few quid for us too in big games next season. As pivotal for York as someone like Green or Blundell was for us in the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. Lets hope we can get the best out of him.
-
He had a serious injury that slowed his progress for a while. He has scored a decent amount of goals for a winger in his career, worked his way up from midland combination league.
Does anybody think the McSheffrey deal might not be happening now?.
Blair-Got the brain of Tony---the contract knowledge of Sheree---and the dancing feet of Mad Lionel---Blairwitch it's going to go!.
-
Does anybody think the McSheffrey deal might not be happening now?.
In a word...no.
In a few more words...we need more than one player for each position so I don't expect this signing has anything to do with McSheffrey's potential signature. I expect he'll sign next week.
-
I hear his mum, Linda, used to be a proper head-turner!!
there cheree dint used to be bad ether
-
We cant have massive signings everytime and this lad has a lot of potential and I for one am delighted we now have a proper winger on the books..The only question mark is his injury..A serious one and has yet to reach the level he was at before it, going on Mansfields fans opinions..If he stays fit he's going to be a good signing..
-
is he Tony Blairs son rememeber (d-ream things can only get better)

He has played for a lot of clubs but it seems to me that until he got to Fleetwood they were all either moves to a club in a higher division or a team more likely to be challenging at the top end of the table, which is no bad thing.
-
Adds some pace to a pedestrian midfield, but not a ready made quality player and a question mark about his fitness.
Not cost us the earth and could become a handy lad to have. The Mansfield player we need is Tafazolli - get him and we're on our way to a much better defense.
My Mansfield STH contact tells me that Matt was OK but could easily drift in and out of games (before his injury). The one they are really sweating on is Taf. He's the sort of lad we should be aiming for.
