The last time we made any good permanent signings was back in the Ferguson days. That’s about it.

Reece James?

Fej, JT, Cam John and going a bit further back Reece James were all good signings off the top of my head.

Part of the current problem is the level of the guys we let go/sold was so high, it masked how poor the actual remaining body of the team is.

I get what you’re saying, wrt Covid, SM, but surely, that argument/excuse/reason is somewhat watered down, when you look at the business that has already been done in league 1:

Signings made in L1 since Jan 1st

Saikou Janneh [Bristol City - Shrewsbury] Loan

Morgan Whittaker [Swansea - Lincoln] Loan

Dion Charles [Accrington - Bolton] Undisclosed

Harvey Macadam [Ashton United - Fleetwood] Undisclosed

Marlon Fossey [Fulham - Bolton] Loan

Trai Hume [Linfield - Sunderland] Reported £200,000

Tom Dickson-Peters [Norwich - Gillingham] Loan

Jacob Bedeau [Burnley - Morecambe] Loan

Ben Williams [Barnsley - Cheltenham] Undisclosed

Alfie Lewis [St Patrick's - Plymouth] Free

Trevor Carson [Dundee United - Morecambe] Loan

Dan Nlundulu [Southampton - Cheltenham] loan

Charlie Brown [MK Dons - Cheltenham] Undisclosed

Theo Corbeanu [Wolves - MK Dons] Loan

sedwards what do you consider to be a bad signing please

A bad signing is one who either can't get in the team on merit or when they do performs below the standards expected of a L1 club. Not sure i'm expecting too much just players to contribute to the team in a positive way.

Since last Jan we've signed the below players on loan or permanently. Makes for difficult reading doesn't it?

Vilca
Rowe
Cukur
Barlow
Gardener
Dodoo
Smith
Galbraith
Knoyle
R Williams
Dalhberg
Close
Hiwula
Olowu
Bostock
Bogle
Robertson
Simoes

Alan I don't recall these being household names, would you want any of them at DRFC?

The last 3 managers have struggled to get the players in, which identifies the problem isn’t the manager.
It’s not the recruitment guy as he’s only just come on board, it leaves Baldwin and blunt.
Whoever is in charge of getting the signings done is clearly not very good at this role

Getting them over the line is the hardest part.
ODrisscoll didn’t have much trouble . Wellens , Stock , Mills, Sharpe etc … because he was backed , unlike recent managers who have shake the barrel to soo what’s left inside !!

Backed by whom? The reality is, we can't spend money we haven't got whether we like it or not.
I thought when an owner spent money , that it was called investment. They sell us a season ticket to watch WHAT ? A team of misfits and a manager who didn’t have a clue , then expect us to except that they, the “Millionaires” are skint ? Or are they just tight fisted and penny pinching !!

That's hardly a comprehensive star laden transfer list is it? In fact I think its very poor and proves my point. Take Cheltenham and Bolton out of that list and you have a grand total of 9 players moving clubs. That's not even half the teams in our league.

I'm certainly going to give Gary M a few more days to show his hand.

Can’t believe there is a footballer called Charlie Brown. Bet he’s paid peanuts.

So what is your point?

Try addressing my other points though, equally valid.

Dion Charles has played hardly any football in recent months because he fell out with the Accrington manager at the beginning of the season

Charlie Seaman and Cameron John are still Rovers players. Any idea what is happening with them please? I am not aware that they are on loan or injured, but never seem to play.

Injured.

Seaman is back in training. I think John is still some way off which is a real shame and a big blow to us.

SM, it’s all there if you bother to read the thread.

As for ‘star studded’, we havn’t seen who we’re signing yet!

He really hasn’t, has he? Managed one league appearance since August.

Morgan Whittaker is a decent signing on loan for Lincoln. Maybe not the type of player we need in our battle but he was a talent at Derby and has played a fair bit for Swansea so it's not like he's a rookie either.

I have read it and pointed out that you’re over egging the situation. The fact is there’s been very little activity in our division and nothing of any significance.

Just accept that.

I think the Sanneh, Corbeanu loans are and the Dion Charles and Ben Williams purchases definitely are.

What the club have done is messed up (again) by insisting on maximum hype with their statements when the realities we now know equate to different.

- Significant now means “our targets are affordable”.

- Lined up ready to be signed off now means ‘the players personal terms are agreed, we just need to hope the clubs now agree on letting them come to us on our terms by paying their player up.

In a desperate attempt to appease or excite the fans they’ve came out with the same shite they always do. It just can never be backed up with action.
