Ironside

Simply unplayable tonight. Hold up play, flick ones, winning free kicks and then an assist. The ball was sticking to him like glue. Let’s not take anything away from the rest of the side. Simply awesome from back to front. I have never felt so relaxed in a big game since Southend in 2008. It won’t be easy in the second leg but I think the 12th man of you guys, will get us home. Ironside was great tonight, but Anderson edged it as MOTM for me.  Won every header and that block after Wood slipped was game changing.

1st 20 mins he couldn’t get hold of the ball.
After that it stuck like glue and he was fantastic.
Toss up between him and Mathew Craig for MOM
Anderson 3rd
Everyone played well.
What a team we have at present.
They simply have forgotten how to lose a football match.
Not a bad habit that.

The bloke is an utter warrior.
He shouldn’t have been mom though.
That acolade should have gone to Matty Craig. Different level. Class player.

What did the Sky commentators and pundits have to say about him? I saw they gave him MOTM.

Charlie Austin especially was very complimentary about how he lead the line. He said any manager would want somebody like him in their team. He didn’t give Crewe a minutes rest, chased everywhere and held the ball up superbly.

He’s well overdue a chant.

I heard a few “Here’s to you Joey Ironside, Rovers love you more than you will know” yesterday. Thought that was nice.

My sky recording stopped at full time so I missed all the FT reaction. Gutted.

As he’s done all season idler.

It is an amazing return to the Anderson of old and it’s difficult to believe how he struggled and was hardly worthy of his place in the side earlier on. The man has self belief and it illustrates what confidence and playing alongside other competent teammates under a good manager can achieve. I think that same can be said of Olowu.
