                               Mitchell

                         Anderson.   Long

               Knoyle.                          Maxwell

                         Clayton.    Biggins

              Molyneux                          Hurst

                            Miller.    Woltman

Subs Agard, Goodman, Close, Taylor, Faulkner, Seaman, Jones

I would leave Williams out of the squad as well as Griffiths they aren’t producing enough to be in there. Barlow also has never really done it in a rovers shirt. Ravenhill would just fail to get in the squad because of Close. Seaman I would pick on the bench due to his versatility. Goodman deserves to start getting minutes on the pitch.

Faulkner even at eighteen is a better bet than Williams. I think the Anderson/Long partnership could work if they get enough games together.
Woltman drifting in between midfield and Miller providing the cutting edge. Put Molyneux where he was playing at Hartlepool and get Hurst down the left. Clayton and Biggins job should be to give the ball to our creative players and screen the defence.

We have to start with Close for me. Not convinced Anderson is fit enough to start he looked very “rusty” on Tuesday. Still don’t get this big hate of Williams - he’s played as well as his defensive partner whoever it has been (a point I believe you alluded to was the amount of chopping and changing that has had to have been done)
We need to start on the front foot whatever team is selected

We don't hate Williams, Dude. He's probably a nice bloke. We just think he's not a very good CB.

Certainly not good enough for a team chasing promotion.

Keeping positive and going for a 2-0 rovers win. Miller with both.

Nothing spectacular in terms of performance and excitement but just a solid win

1 month loan? Be interesting to see how many games he gets.

Assuming we’re not stopping him playing in the FA Cup there are 8 fixtures he could play in. Presumably at that point we’ll reassess and potentially extend.

You can see how development of these types of lads is such a mess. We’re reliant on them to get games on loan to advance them but our constant stream of long, medium and short term injuries to senior players means we are bouncing these lads around for short periods. They need games even at NLN or NPL level but we can’t always spare them.

Im just hoping we don't have a repeat of the last few games this Saturday.

Seems obvious to everyone bar the people who matter that we cannot keep sending teams out to try to stifle the game and protect the one point, we have proved on numerous occasions over the last few years that we as a team cannot defend for the life of us, we cannot protect our goal sufficiently to play in this way, we need to start matches on the front foot and attack teams.

Its pretty obvious to us all that our best form of defence is to go out and attack, we have some offensive players who if they applied themselves to this task could make a good fist of it, why don't we use the better part of our squads ability and that's attacking.

We have wide players who are too concerned with tracking back instead of facing up and taking on their defender.

We have a centre forward who's not bad, we keep feeding long balls to constantly, but then don't provide him with any sort of support to play with or off, just keep isolating him to run his blood to water for no gain.

We have a supposed box to box player who we use in a sitting and holding role which has been proven countless times this season is not his forte. but we scream out for players to run beyond the forward line, doesn't happen.

We have central defenders who you could say are functional in getting boot to ball and clearing up field but we ask them to play out from the back like they are the sons of Franco Baresi.

We have full backs who are average defenders but mildly competent going forward, why don't we use them as wing backs and stick another Center half inside to boot.

What we need more than anything is luck, because it looks like every time we take the field we loose players, and then have to revert to using back ups in a system that we have failed in countless times already.

We need a sea change in mentality and outlook because if we don't then we may as well just write of this season and struggle to keep our necks out of the trapdoor, its now become that serious.

The management team know what they need to do, its now time to implement.

Considering how we have played in most matches GM is correct. We have done unbelievably well to get 21 points.

Here we are then.

Away at a team unbeaten at home this season. That are level on points with us and 6th in the current home form table.

https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=4

What do we reckon then?

Anything less than a front foot, four nil victory and I'll dread coming on here later.

I was thinking earlier, when did we get to be big time Charlies? I miss the pub team mentality.

Well said. Any point gained away from home is a good one.

This is the trap people fall in to. Trying to legitimise this as being a battle of equals. It may well be that today, but something has gone terribly wrong with our club if that is the case. Carlisle United have been in League Two for the last ten seasons. Last season they finished 20th in League Two. We are talking about going there and getting a good away point, when a few seasons ago we were in the League One play offs. We’ve fallen badly and it’s really not good.

It's football. No club has a divine right to be better than another.

We've got to get out of feeling sorry for ourselves and lamenting about what might have been if etc.

CBcb, how do you think Liverpool, Manchester United, Wolves, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, feel when for all their money spent, their clubs are not in the positions their fans expect them to be.
That is how the game should be, not all the same teams at the top, why the sixties when funds were more fairly distributed more teams did well.
That has gone now, money rules, and plastic fans expecting only the same teams at the top all the time, and the owners to spend their money for their gratification where fourth is success fifth nowhere, and all the riches to the same teams.
The governance of the game constantly edging smaller teams out, cutting their funding and directing it to just a few clubs.
At seventy five I consider I have seen the best of football, yes many things especially for spectator comfort and transport are better, not much else though, in fact it is getting corrupt.

Their main striker, Kristian Dennis, is out injured.

That will be a big miss for them.

Anderson back in

3-5-1-1 or 3-5-2 formation it would seem. Depending how he deploys Woltman.

Looks like an attack minded set up.  Please GM let Close and or Biggins get forward to support the front men.

Utter rubbish first half again. It was so predictable that we would concede and they haven’t let me down. Terrible performance

We are clueless. Utterly clueless. No idea how to defend away from home and no idea how to attack at pace and with any kind of precision.

We might get out of yet by some miracle, but I highly, highly doubt it

Don’t worry, McSheffrey’s improving things behind the scenes/there’s no one out there who could do a better job/we’ve been hamstrung by injuries/it would be too expensive to sack him/Carlisle-Hartlepool-Barrow are teams we can’t possibly expect to compete with/it’s all the players’ fault/McSheffrey is great as he’s keeping an eye on the under 9s/changing the manager would only lead to a new figure to call for the sack for…

Delete as appropriate.

I can’t even be bothered to watch. I’m 8 hours behind and I don’t want my entire weekend to be ruined.
