Our summer 2021 window was impressively bad.

The year of Younger and Wellens has to go down as the worst. The Jan of that season was similarly awful.

It’s mad we hired a recruitment expert to find under the radar gems and ended up banking everything on getting Will Grigg. A player everyone knows about. What a charlatan that guy was. I literally could have gone on football manager and found better players to sign

All terrible looking back. Close has an excuse with injuries at least.

Seriously negligent window. But that’s the risk when you need to sign a whole team because the last manager gutted the club. Get that window wrong and obviously you’ve got a relegation team.

If we had a bigger core of contracted players we’d only have a few flops not a squad choc full of them

Serious question for you Raven how much did he have as a budget to rebuild the side. How much had already been used for contracted players and the six young professionals we signed. How much did he spend on those three players and how much was left. Have you got the figures do you know the figures otherwise you are guessing where are the facts so supporters can make their own minds up.

No I don’t have the figures so we are in the same place. Like you I don’t know if he spent all the budget but also we don’t know what money he had. The facts are not there to be seen. I’m not accusing him of spending all the budget

Don’t want to go over old ground but here we are.

If Wellens spent the majority of our budget on Close,Williams,Knoyle & Hiwula then he’s overpaid by many multiples what they are worth. That or we never had much money to start with.

Mostly those players were established L1 players. In year’s previous we’ve had a squad of that level so signing 4 or 5 on the going rate for a L1 player shouldn’t have used the budget up. Especially when you remember how few players we had. Unless we overpaid or the budget was slashed dramatically.

But whichever reason it certainly looks like that’s what happened. After signing the above 4 who on the face of it were decent signings the drop off in pedigree was shocking. Gardener, Barlow, Dodoo, Cukur etc

It would appear we had to start shopping in a L2 or lower market after the initial signings. That wouldn’t have been by choice would it

But you are accusing the Club not to  have given him a decent budget
