i fully understand why pyro is a risk.i suffered a lung full at scunny  few seasons ago. but why is it so prevalent and apparently allowed in europe?

I'm a pragmatic kinda guy. I see the appeal and the visual spectacle they create.
consider someone who has asthma though? or lung disease like copd?

In what way did he "get off"? He was found guilty and ordered to pay a fine and costs.

They're not allowed in Europe, generally.  Certainly in France, there are deals between the supporters groups and their clubs as to how the weekly fines are dealt with and who pays.

£150 in total might as well told him to do litter picking ,pryos are horrible ,the smoke and smell they give off chokes you even at a distance

He wasn't found guilty, he pleaded guilty. 

His solicitor didn't give evidence against him.

What would have happened is that the initial excuse he gave in the ground would be part of the explanation of the offence read out by the prosecution solicitor to the magistrates.  The defence solicitor, in mitigation after the guilty plea, acknowledged the initial excuse was incorrect on the evidence provided.
