Chesterfield v Bradford
« on July 23, 2022, 06:07:31 pm by steve@dcfd »
Chesterfield won 3.  0 with Horton crossing for one and Mandeville scoring the third they’ll be smarting and want to get that out their system next week although it is only a preseason game

Based on that score line maybe we are in a better place than Bradford right now. Maybe all their new players haven’t gelled yet.

Yes i know these pre season results can be very misleading.  But !!!

Yep
They did. So I will sit down again and stop dreaming of that 4-0 win next week.
Just settle for 1-0

I have gone for a draw on the PvO   Would be happy with that. Just wish to see a proper team performance next week to show us all we are in business this season.
The result if positive will be a bonus in this one.

Was it a full side though? Before we go jumping to conclusions.

I’ve no idea what their full strength side is, I would imagine only mark Hughes knows that

All their fans think it was their strongest 11,
But it was a friendly doesn’t mean much if anything

Gooch was one of the few regular first teamers in the Sunderland team mand in the Chesterfield much - 6 minutes of highlights on YouTube - Bradford were clearly second best.

Just watched that and Brandon certainly got the better of Brad Halliday, which shouldn't surprise us at all. I would hope GM would target Halliday as a weak link.

Chesterfields Quigley gave Bradfords centre half's a hard time and you wonder if GM might replicate that by playing Andrews up front alongside Miller, particularly if Tomlin is still suffering from his knock.

Bradford had some pace of their own up front so we still need to be wary of that.
I suggested Long might get the nod on Saturday but on reflection, Olowus pace could be invaluable and so could Knoyle instead of Younger.
