Brentford v Swindon
« on March 12, 2013, 02:06:25 pm by andysly »
What do we want?
Brentford win - Brentford 64, Swindon 63.
Draw - Swindon 64, Brentford 62.
Swindon win Swindon 66, Brentford 61.

For me it's a Brentford win as the draw has Swindon on 64 but they have vastly superior GD which is worth a point.
Although a Swindon win does have a positive aspect as even though it gets them closer to us it effectively knocks out one of our rivals for automatic places.
Interesting evening ahead!

With grid lock roads and heavy snow last night around London it makes you wonder how Brentford will get this game on.

At a push I would go for a draw as this keeps both clubs 2 points further away.

However I'm not that bothered, I'd rather we focus on our games....

We haven't got a game to focus on.

I would go for a Swindon win, get Brentford out of the running.

I meant in general, not just tonight - sorry for any confusion.

Other teams will always take points off each other, but we can control our own destiny by winning our games...

Draws are no good to anyone at this stage, so that would be best for us.

Anything but a Swindon win.

Whatever happens is irrelevant as we have both to play and so we have our own chance of making sure neither catch us up.

Sheff U and Yeovil are the only teams in the running whose destiny we cant attribute to, so those are the games we have to hope go in our favour.

I'd have thought every fixture in the division is relevant otherwise why bother.
Whatever happens in this fixture has positive and negatives for our destiny.

A draw produces 2pts for the game, win produces three.  So the draw has to be best option.  Who knows how either of them are going to fare in the run-in, so we can't really say the win for either one is better than the other.  Nine games is nigh on a fifth of the season still to play.  Too many possibilities to say who's best to get the points.

With grid lock roads and heavy snow last night around London it makes you wonder how Brentford will get this game on.

Although the gridlock got featured on the BBC news because it was in the south, the problems were nowhere near London- they were in Sussex.

The snow didn't seem all that heavy (not in comparison to what fell around here in January) and the road problems were either down to a lack of gritting or the inability of British motorists to cope with snow- probably a combination of both.

Hopefully a draw,  a couple or three sending offs, plenty of bookings and a few injuries, nothing too serious, pulled hamstrings, twisted ankles etc.

So what, we're still top and will be before we play on saturday, and the others are using up a game in hand.

Win on Sat and we're still top, etc etc...

I know. Helps us if they drop points though.

True, but we can't rely on that - we can control our own destiny by winning...

Results all looking good at the minute. Bournemouth the only team winning and they're not likely to catch us unless we self-destruct.

As I type that, Brentford score. Knickers.

Brentford scoring isn't too bad though. It's better than Swindon winning.

Despite Bournemouth being in front I believe our win there has put them out of the running for the top two. And if Brentford get beat they are out of it too.
2 places between 5.
