Title: Recent meeting with the club
Post by: VSC on October 15, 2014, 11:40:47 pm
Update!

IRWT – The latest survey will be up soon and, after a considerable break, will give us the opportunity to test the water and establish what current priorities can be established. Once the survey results are known we can incorporate supporters views into the ‘Fan Panels’ and create a to-do list that works towards meeting those aspirations. The ‘Fan Panels’ are to be held on the 21st and 25th. Mark will be in attendance at the first one.

Rovers Player – Recent tests seem to have gone reasonably well but some supporters are still suffering various issues. DRFC have liaised extensively with Perform but are struggling to get a response that meets with expectations. Seemingly the FL app doesn’t seem to be meeting anybody’s expectations. This particular service appears to be an issue with all FL clubs and has been raised at FL meetings by all clubs, plus message boards around the country appear to be echoing the same message. DRFC are issuing a voucher worth £5 to all subscribers as a small way of compensation for the troubles that they have suffered. The voucher will be available for 12 months and will be valid at all DRFC locations. Perform have been asked for subscribers details to enable this.

Catering – The service level still has its problems. DRFC are working hard behind the scenes to rectify what they can and all complaints have been passed to Centerplate at a senior level with a view to alleviating the issues where possible. The catering service has not been good enough this season, especially with a ‘premium’ product offering. Unfortunately pricing is not something DRFC have direct control over. It’s an ongoing situation and further discussion is needed.

Big Screen – is 30m² and should be up and running for the Sheff Utd game. Replays and highlights packages should be available along with stadium advertising.

Bus service – Now back to normal with after match buses leaving from Car Park 3. ‘First’ anticipate putting on a match day special shortly which will run directly to the stadium. Should be announced soon. They are currently working on a bus pass for next season which will be available from all locations, more details when we can.

Social nights – The club will allow the VSC to utilise the BVB for social nights when they require. Ideas currently include bar games, darts etc and will include the attendance of DRFC players when available. VSC to speak with the SC and see if a joint social evening can work for the benefit of supporters.

Playing budget – Its unreasonable to put specific figures on this as the budget varies slightly depending on circumstances and performances. However it was reiterated once again that this is one of the better budgets in the division and reflects exactly what the club has publicly stated on a few occasions.

VSC AGM – confirmed for Nov 15th.

VSC shareholding – was discussed following on from the takeover talks during the summer. DRFC have confirmed that there is no intention to dissolve or reduce this, in fact the opposite would be a better reflection.

Fan issues – we discussed a few of these with regard to match day and certain ongoing topics which raise themselves frequently. It was agreed that we should go through with the Fan Panels and allow others to assist in finding solutions and ideas, hopefully give a broader base to any proposed alterations in existing arrangements.

This is worth quoting for future arguments (wait... I mean debates). Although, it's a bit ambiguous what 'better' means. I presume it means top half pushing towards a top 10 budget.

"one of the better budgets" just means it's not the worst.

That's good isn't it?

"one of the better budgets" just means it's not the worst.

That's not what it means at all.

"One of the better budgets" means it's a top half budget. I'd like to know how it compares to the budget we had last time we were in this division. With the extra advertising stadium revinue you would think it would be quite a bit more. I'd say it's not though.

One of the better budgets means it's 'one of the best', therefore its a budget that can deliver promotion.

OMG! We're doomed! My glass isn't just half empty, there's a hole in the top and it's leaking and evaporating.

I assume your counselling sessions for your manic depression are still a work in progress?!?!? LOL!

Can't see the point in the board making statements about the budget other than to appease fans. Even then there will always be dissent as some people will always use it as a stick to beat the board or manager with. Even under JR, the amount of money available was never indicated, only after did JR  often refer to how much he, and the others were putting in. We were drip fed snippets about signings, sometimes mouthwatering, and left to assume we must have funds available. It is what it is and only at the end of the season can we judge.

Baz,

That's the reason we didn't put a figure on it. No matter what we put somebody somewhere would pull it to bits. Its a good budget, one that should give us a very good shot at what we want.

When he chooses to is the obvious answer.

I Expect a lot of his 'Top Half budget' is being spent on two or three players, the rest are on the average for this division,so most of his money is tied up with those three players.

I agree Sammy and in my opinion it's a complete waste as 2 of the players have no value and are coming to the end of the playing time
