John Marquis song
« on April 04, 2017, 05:10:46 pm by DRFCMach2man »
The current song we sing for JM is brilliant but I thought what about adding the following verses as a chorus:

Who's the best striker in the football league
It's you John John John its you John John

Who's the best striker in the football league
its you John John John its you John John
(Added chorus)
Yeah he looks so fine
Yeah he wears number 9
Yeah he scores anytime
It's you John John John its you John John  :woohoo: :woohoo: :rtid:

If fellow fans approve and we get the south stand to sing it on Saturday it would be brilliant as I think this Saturday may well be a real party atmosphere at the KM

now - i'm all in favour of the john marquis song, does the job admirably, but at the end of the day it's the same thing sung a couple or three times before dying on its arse - needs a bit more depth

and so - with a special effort to avoid swearing to avoid offending the fücking snowflakes who thought that some of the songs at orient were abit near the knuckle (i despair...), how about

who's the topscorer in the football league ?
it's you john, john john - it's you john john
his goals are taking rovers up - we all believe
it's you john, john john - it's you john john
yeah - his hair's real fine
yeah - he's rovers number nine
yeah - we'll sing it one more time
it's you john, john john - it's you john john

right, there ya go - give it some b*llocks !

and the alfie may songs are shocking - can someone please get the "ralphie milne" thing sorted out (I'd do it me'sen but ain't going until we play the scabs now...) !

don't hold your breath...

 :P

To be fair you were singing this behind me at Grimsby and it sounded very good. A song rather than an inane repeated chant.

Great idea. That song is crying out to be continued with the chorus. I will get them to join in in the East Stand if you start it!

We really need to stop regurgitating the same old tune.....

#Brian, Brian Sto -ock, Brian, Brian Stock

#Billy, Billy Sha-arp, Billy, Billy Sharp

#Alfie, Alfie May-ay, Alfie, Alfie May

What would we sing if we signed Daddy Cool?

Absolutely brilliant Mach2.
As Rovers Return said, a proper song, right up there with the Fernando Torres song they used to sing at Liverpool.
Unique to JM and I bet he and the players would love it.
Come on Rob the Rover, Sad and CiM, get this going on Saturday.
I bet loads will join in after a couple of goes.
All us oldies know the original song so it won't be too hard for us to do it.
Maybe the young Uns will struggle with it?

Mark E Smith beat you all to it with this from 1983

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YchlTWWVNk8

words a bit hard to remember though

He can never go home
He can never go home

Stranded in South America
Nothing to go home for
Just another Brit in the bar
Hernandez Fiendish comes over to me
Offers a job as broadcaster
That's how I came to be

Marquis Cha Cha
He can never go home
But is O.K. by him
The generals have many enemies
And them I single out
What does it concern me about?
Good riddance to my native country
It never did a thing for me
It's a better life here
And I am not a traitor

Marquis Cha Cha
He can never go home
Now here is his show

Hey you people over there
And those in sea and air
It has been theirs for years
It is a good life here
Football and beer much superior
Gringo gets cheap servant staff
Low tax and a dusky wife

Intelligentsia
Although your radio has been jammed
I heard talk about by chance
You educated kids know what you're on about
You've been oppressed for years
I hear Rosso-Rosso over there
And you have cha-cha clubs
You should hear the rosso-rosso stuff
I understand you

I'm from a town called
Mmmm
Marquis Cha Cha
He can never go home
He can never go home

One point is made here
The scourge of rosso-rosso
So what if I do propaganda?
After a few steins I feel better
But that broken down fan
They never fix it, them dumb Latins
There's a bayonet beside my head
There's a guard in the annex
Marquis Cha Cha
He never did go home

To be honest the song as it is does the job.

Simple and fades neatly into Darren Ferguson etc etc

I like the one the American guy on facebook did:

Don't cha wish your striker was John Marquis?
Don't cha, Dont' cha?

repeat for 10 minutes.

To the tune of................. "Don't cha" by the New York Dolls.

Can be helped with the drummer, so we get a 'ba dum ba dum' before Yeah, he looks so fine and the next two lines.

Should be good and repeatable.

I posted a link to this (a real favourite of mine) when John Marquis signed for us. Needless to say it didn't go down well (other than with Fall fans.)

I suppose he can never go home because he's a Rover now!
