Just looking at the Welsh subs bench against Belgium tonight.
Is the number nineteen our very own Matt Smith?

Had a very good game as well according to the BBC:

“ Matt Smith has been excellent for Wales tonight, he has kept them ticking over in midfield.

It's hard to see him making the grade at Manchester City, his parent club, but he certainly looks better on this evidence than League One, where he is playing now.”

He impressed a lot of Welsh fans and media with his performance on Saturday night against Mexico for what was essentially a Wales 'B' team. He was constantly the quickest onto loose balls and always looking to get a pass from teammates and keep things moving. Basically doing all the things he does well for us. Interestingly he was on all Wales attacking set-pieces too.

He's unlikely to start against Czech Republic, unless Joe Morrell or Ethan Ampadu have picked up a knock since Friday, but he's doing all the right things to get himself into the Wales squad for the Euros this summer; he's probably the fifth choice central midfielder at the moment behind those two plus Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen.

Let’s he keep himself fit before Friday. He should walk straight back in to central midfield with Bostock. Gets James back to left back where he gives more going forward. Then it’s picking the best front four available which at the moment is not rocket science.

I see Japan scored in 90+1, 90+2 , 90+3 i think Mongolia must have walked off on 90 mins.

I was going off the official team sheet, which had been tweeted pre-game so very certain he was on the bench.

Thankfully for Rovers fans he remained unused. The pattern of the game and the sendings off meant the only real reason he’d have come on would’ve been for an injury.
