Coventry City v Luton Town.
Fourth tier only five years ago versus non league ten years ago.
One of them to play in the PL next season.

Yes. Both been through the mill one way or another.

Luton were in the Conference for 5 seasons!!

Different tales to tell about their home grounds. I remember talking to a Luton fan down there in 2009? And he said they were also getting a new ground soon following our move to the Keepmoat!

I'm sure Coventry fans won't see the move to a new ground as the answer to their problems though!

I kinda hope Luton do it though, as I think they'll be the first relegated to non league to make it all the way back to the top. It's been a long time since we saw David Pleat running on to the pitch at Maine Road like a madman!

Fantastic achievement for both Clubs.
Just shows if the ambition is there then anything is possible.

CBcb I think it was you who said Luton had a wage bill of 22 million last season 2021/22
Talking on Talk Sport the other day someone, think it may have been Simon Jordan can’t remember, that Luton were operating on a very modest budget for that League.
Now if 22 million is modest then I am very concerned.
Are you sure your facts are correct. I am not saying they are not, just asking the question.
If 22 million is modest what is the average?

I didn’t. I said Luton Town had total wage costs of £18m in 2021/22. Millwall had total wage costs of £22m.

Mark Robins was a much maligned manager when he eventually failed at Barnsley - although Tyke may have a closer knowledge than my casual observation.

However he took over Coventry in 2017 and has managed them  over an immensely tumultuous period for the club. They lost their “tenancy” at the Ricoh and had to early 40 miles away at Northampton and then at St Andrews, Birmingham and only recently got back to the “Ricoh”.

During this time they managed to escape from L2 and then L1 and this season they were in the relegation zone for the first half a dozen games, so Robins’ and his team’s achievement has been remarkable. Surely he has established a considerable reputation as a result.

Who remembers Eric Morecombe as chairman of Luton.I am sure he will be looking down on them in the play off game. No far east owners in those days. Well done to both Luton and Coventry

Well 18 million isn’t a modest sum.
Crazy money for a club Luton’s size.
