Pre-Season Fixtures
« on May 22, 2015, 12:43:27 pm by DRFC-Hanksie »
Anything announced or anything heard anything on the grapevine?

Cant see anything on DROS.

We're pretty piss poor for when it comes to organizing these. Few notable ones i've seen ...

Rotherham have a tour of Scotland
Derby away at Utrecht
Rangers away at Leeds

Shame we can't do anything like this, it's getting a bit boring beating wednesdays now at the KMS.

Agreed mate. No imagination whatsoever, nothing of interest since the Joma tournament in Devon.
I have heard we are having 4 home friendlies but neither date nor opposition have been confirmed. More interested in the away ones though.

A tour of Scotland or Ireland would be fantastic. I wonder if they are waiting till the Premier League finishes this weekend before confirming dates?

I want to know if the club is changing the pie supplier.
The current ones stink to high heaven.
I have lived in fear of Donny Dog coming to our row of seats with a pie for everyone.

Seriously though, is this thread just another one to give people something to moan about?

I read it as a genuine question about pre season games. Paranoia ?

My question was also a genuine one, not paranoia at all.

The Bridlington Town website says it is a Rovers XI. Probably a mixture of development and youth players.

http://www.bridtownafc.com/townnews.htm

The Brid manager, Gary Allanson, is a former Rovers player.

More worrying is whether any of Donny Dog's mates end up in the pies

My contact tells me we've got Barcelona away sometime in late July.
That's perfect for me because I only live a short stroll from Camp Nou. About time I got to see Rovers without that tedious 14-hour return journey every other ruddy Saturday.

I'm now just crossing my fingers that it doesn't clash with our 2 week break in Filey.

Good one, that. I dare say the Mackems will bring a few as it will be a new ground for them.

I can't get too excited about pre season friendlies.  I understand fully why they are organised, but as a spectacle, no thanks.

A tour where fans could take a holiday and see the games, isn't a bad shout but would only serve a few, same with overseas for groundhoppers.

Went to Uni at Sunderland and watched a fair few matches whilst up there. Hope to see us play them in a competitive game in the future and will be good to see them down the Keepmoat. £10 is a fair price too.

Remember that Newcastle one a good few years back on a Saturday, they filled it, good craic with some of their fans in town too, not some of the knuckledraggers we have had in previous seasons - wednesdays.

I've heard from a fairly reliable source that we have another 3 home games lined up who are all Champsionship sides next season - bit of a borefest.

So the rumours are that we are playing Sunderland, Bridlington and Middlesbrough so far. I can only guess the other two will be Hartlepool and Darlington.

Did we not play Sunderland in a pre season friendly at OBV and had a fly past by the Avro Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight? Seemed to remember that being a high light of the day, found that more interesting than the game.
