Pre-Season Friendlies
« on May 02, 2017, 01:48:09 pm by glosterred »
Has anyone heard of any upcoming friendly matches yet? They're usually some gossip about now as to who we can expect to be playing.

I would imagine that Frickley or Armthorpe will feature.

We owe Kidderminster a game from 23 July and Coventry a game from 29 July that were both canceled last year. As well as a Hythe game for Alfie. Rossington, Armthorpe and Frickley often crop up as local games, but still need a couple of real challenges from the Championship.

I think every prevseaon friendly played at a club like rovers should be played on British soil , can never understand when clubs not in the prem or at the very top of the tree go on world pre season tours .

It's the fans that get hit in the pocket for this and it seems as a reward to the players who have far too much money slopping about .

Big clubs go to raise their global brand and to fulfill sponsor duties.

Hythe's pretty close to be fair - hang out the window of their first floor bar and you'll be able to see france

very convenient too, just down the road from Hessian Towers...

Idd love us to arrange a European pre season tour. As Donny fans that's the only realistic chance we will get to see us play abroad. A week away in Germany/Spain or Portugal, playing a few games and plenty of sun and beer, or the usual pre season games vs a couple of championship clubs at home..... I know which one Idd prefer.

Would you prefer that the club stump up for flights and accommodation for 25-odd players and staff, or spend that money on improving the playing squad?

It's hardly going to break the bank a few days away is it... plus intill last season we used to go to Portugal on a training camp every year anyway, just would of be good to play a game or 2 while we were there.

We've gone to Portugal for a number of years, this year didn't we go to Scotland ??. I doubt there's much difference between In cost. Im sure if we did arrange a friendly or 2 abroad a good few hundred fans would go.

perhaps they could go through keycamps go to Spain by bus, and stay in l'estertit and stay in a caravan  then play Gerona they looks like going up into laliga, that would be cheaper

Maybe some could make it coincide with the sun holiday offers collect the tokens campsite nearby- cheap holiday and you get to watch you're team. They cover practically every country nowadays. It would at least cover three to four of the days and maybe make the rest up yourself?.

But that means you're buying the sun.
