Team for tonight
« on August 19, 2014, 10:44:46 am by Donnybax »
What would you play then?
I'd go for
                            Steer
            McCollough jones McCombe
  Copps                                            Evina
                     De val   Keegan
                          Furman

                          Bennett
                          Robinson

If Forrester's red card gets rescinded, I'd go:
Steer
Wabara McCullough Jones (C) Evina
Coppinger Keegan De Val Bennett
                    Forrester
                    Robinson

If Forrester's red card doesn't get rescinded, I'd put Tyson in and play a 4-4-2. Wabara and McCombe are 50/50 to play, so our only option would be Wakefield.

Steer

Evina
McCombe
Jones
Copps

Keegan
Furman

DeVal

Bennett
Tyson

Robinson.

In a 4-2-3-1 ish formation, with Tyson and Benno wide.

It's alright fantasising over different formations and systems but if they haven't been working in them on training they can't play them effectively. It takes weeks and months of practice to get used to new systems, not just a panic couple of days after a bad defeat.

If Forrester wins his appeal I would go for

                      Steer
Coppinger  McCullough Jones Evina

                   De Val  Keegan
Bennett                                    Tyson
                      Forrester
                      Robinson

I would like to see Forrester play central, but behind who?  Bennett is worthy of a start and I'd put him left midfield.  Copps could cover RB and I would have Keegan over Furman.

Assuming Wabara is fit and Forrester is available:

Steer,

Wabara, Jones, McCullough, Evina

Keegan De Val

Copps Forrester Bennett

Robinson

or:

Steer

Copps Jones McCullough Evina

Keegan De Val

Robinson Furman Bennett

Tyson

In the second set I would put Furman as a more attacking MF, but I do like the option to rotate Bennett, Robinson, Forrester, Copps in between the wide/central role.

I thought appeals were heard on Thursday? With us appealing it would mean HF is free to play tonight.

Steer

Wabara Jones McCullough Evina

Keegan De Val

Coppinger Forrester Bennett

Robinson

Apparently PD has said the appeal is this afternoon, did you expect the FA to stick to the normal arrangements if it might help little old Donny?

Nope, heard today.  If it was heard after the game tonight then he would be free to play pending appeal anyway...

PD said that the appeal was today and that we'd know the result at 2pm.

Fair enough, I was going by what I read on the FA's disciplinary procedures pages.  I've lost the link now...

                Steer
      McCombe Jones McCullough
Coppinger.                      Evina
              Keegan  De Val
Bennett.    Robinson.   Tyson
Wouldn't argue too much with this line up tonight, don't think it will be any where near though

                            Steer
   Wakefield-McCombe-Jones-Evina
                          Keegan
                 Furman       De Val
   Coppinger                           Forrester
                          Robinson

Solidity at the back, allows the full backs, De Val and Furman to go forward. Curtis Main would be perfect in this system.

In all honesty DVR, there must be a really good case for an appeal (which I think there is) for the club to submit one in the first place.  Let's hope for good news for HF for tonight?

PD says the result of the appeal will be known at 2pm. He also said Wabarra and McCombe are 50/50 for tonight.

If all are not available

-----------------Steer

---Wakefield--- Jones----McCullough

Coppinger--Keegan----DeVal------Evina

-------------------Bennett

-------Robinson--------------Tyson

If Wabbara and Forrester are available then I would play 4 2 3 1

With Forrester behind Robinson, Bennett left of the 3

But we will play 442 whoever is available or not.

If Wabara and Forrester are available I would go for the team below. I think we need to pack the middle out tonight because these have got one of the best midfields in the league if not the best so it's the only way we will keep the ball.

Steer

Wabara
Jones
McCullough
Evina

Keegan
Furman
De val

Copps
Forrester

Chuck on every forward we have and play a rush-back keeper.
I played that role in the playground 40 years ago so will volunteer.

Caseys were brilliant, especially when they were on the way out and the leather would be flapping around as it whizzed through the air.

Assuming that Forrester's appeal is turned down(which it shouldn't be)and Wabara makes it and McCombe doesn't make it,going on Wabara playing with injuries befoe and McCombe after coming back from a long lay off i don't think they will risk him.
My team would be.

                                             Steer

                                    Jones  McCullough

                        Wabara                                             Evina

                                                 Keegan

                           Coppinger                         Bennett

                                                  De Val

                                     Robinson            Tyson

I Was tempted to play three at the back, but you don't try new things against the stronger side's like Preston,we need to have a look at what De Val can do,even though i want to see Bennett given the wandering role behind the front two.

I Still see a side that can win,if it has massively improved from the last game,i am undecided whether we are ready for another top ten side yet,but get a break or two early on and we might just get going and get a good result.

I don't know what they do in training but it often looks to me like they don't bother working on any structure or formation.

I think we work pretty hard and press well when we don't have the ball. It's what we do when we have it that's the issue.
