The Greatest Own Goal...... Ever?

When top Croatian side Hadjuk Split visited arch-rivals Lokomotiva at the weekend there was a lot at stake: the two sides are locked in a nail-biting four-way tussle for the Europa League spots, and three points at this stage of the season could be crucial.

So you would have thought that Hadjuk Split midfielder Goran Rubil would have been thrilled to open the scoring after just eight minutes with a stunning long-range strike that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Unfortunately for Rubil, his thundering strike was scored at the wrong end as a moment of madness saw him misjudge a clearance so badly that he ended up producing the sort of bottom corner rocket that Lionel Messi would have been proud of.

Hadjuk managed to equalise eight minutes later to save Rubil's blushes as his team-mate Ante Vukusic found the back of the net.

But that scorching own goal turned out to be decisive after Lokomotiva scored again, with Nino Bule slotting in a penalty on the stroke of half time.

Nevermind the finish, why wasn't Mark Wilson there to clear the danger?
