Tuesday Night's key fixture (March 21st, 2017)
« on March 19, 2017, 09:08:55 pm by les@donr »
O.k we are not playing, but Luton are, and their result tonight will have a bearing as to how soon we can be promoted.

Newport County vs Luton Town.

Anything other than a  win for Luton, would be great for us.

Hopefully Newport can do to them what they did to us on their excuse for a pitch.

Agreed.
They need to accumulate at 2 points per game just to catch us as it stands and then we would have to lose our last eight matches.
Not going to happen is it.

If Luton win all 9 they won't catch us. We definately get 87 points.
That's only 3 wins out of 9.
But we can't celebrate until the maths say so. Not long to wait now.

According to their manager, just a few weeks ago, they were going to catch us!

Lose or draw with Newport will effectively end Luton's chance of an automatic spot.

He's been high on something for most of this season! I read his post match interview on Saturday and I couldn't understand  what he was actually saying. Total numpty.

I have just read on the BBC sport site that his contract has been awarded on the back of a fantastic run which has seen them win 34 of their last 70 matches.
I haven't got time to see how many of the other 36 games they drew but if i am being generous and guessing at 20, that means they would have picked up 122 points from the 210 possible from 70 matches.
That is some way short of 140 points to average two points per game and they are considering the run to be very good.

At present Luton need more than two points per game to just catch us in the games remaining and then we would have to lose all of our last 8.
Like i said earlier, it isnt going to happen.

Be nice for Newport to beat them, send Luton into meltdown.

The league table rarely lies after 38 games and it certainly doesn't after 46 are played.
How many points above Luton are we? 18
How many at the end of the season? My estimate is at least 22
The man is deluded. That interview after our match had to be heard to be believed.

He will soon loose the players if he keeps blaming them for dropped points
