Any of the 'bargain' ones are pretty good these days. I have an iPad Air (a present for a significant birthday), but our lass and my daughter have Kindle Fires, and my youngest has a Samsung Galaxy...

Given that they are now largely disposable items, you can't go far wrong with a Fire or a Hudl. If you have Amazon Prime, I would suggest you pick up a Fire because you also get free book loans on top of all the other madness Amazon lumps in with its services these days.

As above, get one of the cheap ones. Do exactly the same thing as the more expensive ones, often better.

Yup, what I meant to say (and only ended up half-implying) is that I wouldn't spend my own coin on an iPad. Sure, they're great and all that (and even better if you're part of the Apple ecosystem). However, within three years or so you're left with an expensive - obsolete - tablet that has been dumped by Apple and superseded by the newer Hudls and Fires of this world.

I fancy a Tablet for Xmas to help me out with our football, instead of carrying paper pads about when collecting Subs and for our online Regsitration system. I know I can do the online stuff but can I use Excel spreadsheets on  non Windows running tablets ?

I use OfficeSuite Pro on Android.  100% compatible with MSOffice and dead easy to use.

If you're after something bigger than a 7" then the Nexus 9 is hard to beat and you get all the new Android updates before everyone else as it's made by Google.  Last time I checked it was on special offer at Argos too making it pretty cheap.

hi I have a Samsung galaxy and an I pad I much prefer the Samsung but both have pros and cons cannot get sky go on my Samsung but I pad does not have flash player unless you get them with jail brake on them

The Samsung galaxy tab s is exceptional,  it has the best mobile display ever made, bizarrely the s2 released recently has an Inferior display. . As it's last year's model you will get a cracking price as well.  Considering what you use tablets for, this IMHO is still.the best tablet on the market.. it's just as thin, fast and smooth as an ipad.air,  but with a better display...
